I was looking at craigs list this past weekend and saw a pair of Polk RTia3 in mint condition. They match my current set perfectly. The deal was made ,now that i have them this is my question. Should i keep all my speakers and have 7.1 or sell my m40 and run 6.1 or 5.1. any advise would be helpful.

Depends, if you have a big enough room, keep the 7.1, really a matter of personal preference, Try it both ways and see what floats your boat.

I'd move the A3s to the front myself. Everything else would move back. Enjoy.

    Combo rig:

Onkyo NR1007 pre-pro, Carver TFM 45(fronts), Carver TFM 35 (surrounds)
    SDA 1C, CS400i, SDA 2B
    PB13Ultra RO

I agree IMO, the more speakers the merrier (as long as there is a good match of quality) as it spreads the sound more evenly and at lower volume.

You're room is big enough for 7.1. That's what I'd go with. I'd also think about putting the Rtis either in the front and see what you think? Or moving the M40s to the back and the Rti-A3s to the surround position as there is less info in the surround back and the Rtis are better at resolving detail?

But certainly play around with all your speakers in a full 7.1 configuration!

Interesting that the RTi move to front. I didt think about replacing the m60 with rtia3. I guess it will not cost anything but time. My concern would be the fronts and center are matching, would the rti be ok with cs2.
