Direct TV issue

So I want direct TV, which requires a dish of course. I was going to do it through Best Buy so then I can get 250.00 bucks worth of their gift cards when I buy my new TV at the same time and then bamo PS3 would be 50 bucks.
However, my current apartment does not allow dishes I guess outside due to "lawmower issues". Sooo has anyone ever stuck one inside? is this even possible? I'm trying anything besides moving (which I'll be doing in the spring but the deal ends in Feb) soo yeah.
I know it sounds really dumb but I could live with it until I move, and the new place allows it anyways so it would just be for like 3-4 months.

Unless you have a balcony or deck that has line of sight (no trees) to the south/southwest, you are out of luck. The dishes won't receive the signal inside a house/apartment. They need perfect line of sight if you want them to be reliable in rainstorms, etc.
Even at that, you need an extremely stable mount. The dishes need to be aligned to 5 different satellite locations and is not a DIY undertaking.
If you are moving that soon, just wait. There will be other deals. For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore... -
I had something like that happen at one of my old apartments. The DirecTV guy was able to install the dish on the side of the building itself, thus negating the "on the lawn" problem. Make sure you ask your landlord, but make sure you mention that DirecTV will be handling all the mounting, and that it won't damage the siding (or anything like that)."Dr Dunn admitted that his research could also be interpreted as evidence that women are shallower than men. He said: "Let's face it - there's evidence to support it."Best Buy is for people who don't know any better. Magnolia is for people who don't know any better and have more money to spend.

If it were me, I wouldn't screw around with trying to put a dish inside even if it would work, which I don't think it will unless you have a huge window, uninsulated, with an unobstructed SW view. This dish is a lot bigger than it looks from the road, too, so I can't even imagine that in an apartment.
I had cable all of the years I rented and didn't get DirecTV until I bought my house. It would really suck to be in a 2 year contract with DirecTV and have a non-working dish, if they'd even install it for you. Don't forget the costs associated with moving the dish and having it installed in your new place, unless you're doing that yourself (?).
DirecTV has deals all of the time so just wait until later to see whats being offered.
They have a referral program, too, that I'd help you out with if you want since we're both in WI. -
Federal law states that an apartment complex can not deny access to a smaller dish installation, regardless of the rental agreement. Most folks who have encountered this simply mount it on the porch or side of the building.~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~

I had direct tv at my old apartment and while the pq was great the way they had run the wires wasn't.

I have seen where they use some sort of flat cable for window/sliding door entry and then they tuck the cable [along the wall] underneath where the carpet and the trim meet. That doesn't look that bad but usually the "tucking in" part can only be done in newer complexes built within the past ten years.~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. really? didn't know that. Thank you for that info!
I called again, I can't talk directly to the landlord because "he doesn't take calls about the complexes nor does he ever meet tenates and all questions/concerns have to go through us (the managers)."
According to them though, he won't allow mounting on the building either due to "insurance things" (of what I have NO idea because they said that is what he says).
I just wanted to do it mainly because I was picking a TV up here very shortly and and 250.00 for nothing doesn't sound bad to me. Also I'm just sick of Charter hardcore and that is the only thing in my area besides Direct. -
Can you get a clear shot of the Southern sky at about a 85 degree angle, straight up from your porch?~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~

It isn't true, even with as much as government likes to take the rights away from property owners.
Its only illegal for them to tell you that you can't use the space you actually rent, which DOES NOT include mounting a dish to their roof or side of their building. Patios are OK, though, and that's as it should be.

Direct TV as well as Dish Network offer "deals" almost every week.If you can't hear a difference, don't waste your money.

Correct, but the deal is if you sign up through Best Buy you get 250.00 bucks in Best Buy gift cards, so far only place or deal I've seen of this, and goes until Feb. Seeing I was buying a TV here anways it would be the easy way to go, plus I would be locked in for 2 years at the price and it would be like 50 bucks which was decent, and cheaper than what I'm currently paying with charter even if I did just internet through Charter and TV through Direct. -
Get a 5 gallon bucket and some Quikrete and set the post in that. Set it on your deck/patio and install the dish there. It can move, but it most likely won't."Don't forget to change your politician. They are like diapers they need to be changed regularly, and for the same reason."

Seems pointless to buy the service and then wait 4 months for it. There goes your $250 in savings. Maybe you can wait until the last day of the deal, order the service and then push out your installation date as far as possible.____________________________________________________________

well I'm on the wrong side of the place for the whole deck set up so that wouldn't work. It would have to be in the yard which is wide open to nothing and right across from a potato field.
We'll see what I can do, I know I'm moving but can't get into the new place and I'm not buying a house yet because I'll probably be moving to a different city in a year or so anyways so just doesn't pay for that right now. Blah.
Who knows maybe I'll just stick it in my garage. That faces south and I can just open the garage door when I want to watch TV. JK
