Did anyone else catch this?

The Frankie Edgar/Gray Maynard fight was INSANE, and i really can't blame the judges for declaring it a draw. I would have called that first round a 10-7 round in Maynard's favor though. I have NEVER seen such a beatdown put on someone like that, that DIDN'T result in a fight stoppage. That was unreal. I'm sure Edgar has a permanent 4 minute "hole" in his memory.

I may get some argument on this next statement, but i honestly think that Maynard's standup even in the later rounds was more effective. Edgar was flashy, fast, and landed some punches, but not one of them had enough power behind them to even make Maynard flinch. On the flip side, every time Maynard even clipped Edgar, he looked like he had just gotten hit with a brick.

I know Edgar wants to stay 155 because he thinks he has a conditioning advantage because he doesn't have to cut weight, but he did not have a clear advantage over Maynard, at least not one big enough to overcome the RIDICULOUS size/strength difference between the two fighters, and Maynard often has to cut 30+lbs for the fights. Joe Rogan mentioned that he's been known to walk around at 190lbs.

Marcus Davis needs to either go back and re-form himself and REALLY spend some time on the other aspects besides striking, or retire. The dude still has great standup, and a LOT of power, but he's getting his **** handed to him lately by complete fighters. I love watching him fight, but i hate watching him get beat down time and time again.

Phil Baroni: Mannnn.... COME ON.

Thiago Silva is BACK. And how. He made Brandon Vera look stupid. Can't wait to see him make a run at the title.
I don't read the newsssspaperssss because dey aaaallllllllll...... have ugly print.

I thought it was a 10-7 round, I had round 5 to Maynard, round 2 and 4 to Edgar. Obviously the judges had the round 10-8 though, then gave 3 or 5 to Maynard, and the others to Edgar. Overall though I was not in total shock with the draw call.

Thiago looked well conditioned and just down right scary actually. Barring some type of injury again, he looks like he can make a serious run at 205.

I obviously missed the Marcus Davis fight. Were there prelims on Spike?

Baroni......why...why does Dana keep bringing this guy back? The guy has a 13-14 record.

Prelims were on the "ion" channel. They ended up showing two of the prelims at the end of the event. One televised on "ion" (the Baroni fight) and one that wasn't televised at all. The Davis one didn't make PPV airtime. It wasn't anything special. I mean, it wasn't a bad fight but it wasn't a great fight either. I thought he was going to do better than he did but Stephens is a better fighter than alot of people give him credit for. It was a bit of an upset though 'cause while Stephens has a good ground game, he's better known as a striker because of his Muay Thai and boxing backgrounds. But Davis is considered a better striker. Maybe Stephens got lucky? Dunno, he seemed pretty aware and composed the entire fight. Moreso than Davis was. All that matters though is where that 'W' gets placed.

Why does Dana keep bringing back Phil Baloney? Well, his fights are usually interesting, he puts on a good show and when he's on the game and doing well, he's an impressive fighter to watch. If he gets on his wrestling game where he doesn't need so much cardio as he does strength, he's completely dominating. But he'll likely be cut even though he still has a couple of contracted fights left on his contract. He was supposed to fight in August but was sidelined with an injury. He said after 125 that he expects to be cut but refuses to quit. Basically saying that Dana has to fire him for him to leave the UFC.

The way Silva just dominated reminded me of Maiquel Falcao vs. Gerals Harris. They're both scary scary dudes, though different styles of fighting. They're both out to hurt someone, and are just completely vicious. I was cringing a few times in both fights.
