Bought a Toyota Sienna

Well, last month we bit the bullet and ditched my wife's old 91' Mitsubishi Mirage and bought a certified 2000 Sienna. Forest Green color, of course.
It is the LE model but fully loaded like the XLE (less the TV/VCR and leather interior), captains chairs front and middle with a bench in the back, CD/Tape deck, running boards, roof rack, V6, premium sound, alloy wheels. It only had 28,113k miles on it and is in perfect condition. Not even a ding on the body or mark on the interior.
This thing rides just as nice, if not a hair better than my moms Lexus. Very solid, smooth, quiet, with no boat-like feeling at all.
We test drove the Windstar, Caravan, Town-n-Country and the Honda. In all, the Sienna was far superior in all categories; ride, comfort, interior design, functionability of controls and then there is Toyota reliability, second to none. The Honda drove the worst of the lot, very boat-like. The minute we drove off the lot, I started feeling sick. I sat in the back of every van we drove as I can get car sick. The Sienna was the only van that did not make me feel sick, at all.
My parents neighbor works as the head finance guy for Toyota of Huntington Beach. Out the door, after tax, license and a 100k mile bumper-to-bumper extended warranty, the total was $21,025. Not a bad deal. Saved us 10k going certified used vr. buying the same van new. The new 01' were sitting on the lot at 29k and did not have many of the options that this one had including the 2 captains chairs for the middle row. We were all set to drop 30k+ on a new one, but this one caught our eye.
Never thought I'd buy a van, but for the money, I think we got a really good deal.
Peace Out~:D

I shouldn't post this, but it's funny.
The first time I went to CES, I palled around with the Polk Autosound car guys. They rented a minivan and we drove all over the place in it. One time, as we were driving around Vegas, I noticed that pieces of the inside of the van -- parts of the dash, the plastic window columns, the side parts on the doors, etc. -- were all missing. Stopped at a stop light at one point, in the middle of a conversation about something unrelated, someone in the van suddenly exclaimed, "Hey! I got it!" and popped off some other important-looking plastic piece of the van interior -- POP! And the conversation just went on. The guy tossed the busted-off piece over my head into the well formed by the back seat and the rear doors, which I then noticed was FILLED WITH VAN PARTS that were missing from the inside of the van.
They completely dismantled the rental van from the inside out.
I innocently asked what they were doing, and they said, "Don't ever buy a used rental van. You just never know what the previous renter has done to it."
I won't tell you what they put into those massive open spaces that opened up when parts came off... Yum!
Those wacky car guys!

...It is not a VAN, it is a MINIVAN. A van is an E350 with a 460 V8, room for 11.
Say it with me guys, M-I-N-I V-A-N.
RCheck your lips at the door woman. Shake your hips like battleships. Yeah, all the white girls trip when I sing at Sunday service. -
Mi.......Mi.......Minnnnnnn........Minnnnnnni-Va..........Va.........Minnnnni..........Vannnnnnnnnn......Mini-Van.
Holy she-ite that was tough, but I got it out.

How many times do I need to write this on the chalk-baord?

You got a good deal. You also have good taste in car.
That is the only minivan that my wife agreed to buy. We bought the minivan 2 years ago and like it very much. It drives exactly like the camry v6. -
my grandparents bought a new sienna about six months ago. i don't think that they've had a single problem with it yet. toyota makes a damn good car, at least in my opinion.
i bought a used certified toyota echo around this time last year. i saved a few thousand bucks, and the car runs like it just rolled off the assembly line... you made a great decision, ron.

Congrats Ron, sounds like a winner to me. Heck of a deal too. My sister has a Camry
in green and it looks real nice.
How soon are ya gona check the top speed or where they set the limiter??

Thanks guys. I have great faith in Toyota. Had several of their 4x's that I ran into the ground and beat up off-road and they just kept on going.
Chris, man, no way. This thing needs to last us a long time. Gonna go easy on the peddle with the new ride.
If you can find a newer ceritfied car in great shape, it is the way to go, saves a bundle in green backs.

Only kidding Ron said it because of your LSR thread. Its your family truckster or vanster which I'm sure your wife will be driving most of the time. Treating it very gently. Just make sure you blow the carbon out once in a while. It really dose make a difference in gas mileage also it keeps the valves and piston tops cleaner. If you use Ammaco Premium with its extra refinment, which makes it clear, it keeps the varnish down inside the engine. Something to think about!

How funny, my dad taught me this way before I could even drive. I've done it with all my cars/trucks ever since.
We do not have Ammaco around these parts, but I have used Chevron premium and it has done excellent. I had a compression test done on my 85' Toyota 4x after 150k miles and she was perfect across the board. All the local Audi/BMW dealers were recommending it back then, so I used it for nearly 5 years and nothing else in that truck and they were right, good stuff. Plus, I'll put in that fuel-injection cleaner every now and then.

I told my Dad about it, he didn't believe me. When the dealer had to clean the valves and seats out he did, good thing for warenties. Now he steps on it once a week or so.
As long as you take care of your cars/trucks they will take care of you. Sounds like you do a good job of taking care of your rides.
