New Year Tweaking........
Did alittle upgrading today to a couple of AC line conditioners I had laying around.
First off I installed a Furutech gold IEC input on a Furman Ac 215.
I am not even using the Furman, but I had the IEC input laying around so I thought what the hell!
Tried if for an hour or so in a third system.
Sounds ALOT better than the stock IEC!
This is not a bad conditioner, its really pretty quiet, and offers good power.
I used a VH Audio Flavor 4 with FI -25 golds on both ends to power it.
Secondly, I shortened the cables by 2ft. (4ft. now) on a Adcom Ace 515.
I received a Furutech Cu copper receptacle for Christmas, with a male FI-11Cu male plug (running on a dedicated 12ga romex line).
So I figured it would be a great match to install the Cu copper plug on the Adcom to match the receptacle.
I also installed a Hubbell Hospital Grade 8215C plug on the accessories part of the
Adcom (the 2 prong outlets).
This is NOT the same conditioner!
Much, MUCH better synergy with the Furu receptacle, and eliminating the original nickle plugs on this conditioner is an excellent upgrade!
The Adcom Ace 515 system:
Furutech Cu receptacle (dedicated line).
Rotel 960 60watt amp (Hubbell 8215C plug installed)
B&K Ref 30 pre with DH Labs Power plus (Furutech AG IEC, and Cu Male)
Yamaha 5650 DVD player (Hubbell 8215C installed)
Audioquest Colorado 72v IC's
Nordost Flatline Gold spkr wires.
Auricle Dig Sig.
PSB Alpha B1's on 24" stands.
Now I have to get drunk and listen, as I did not have a chance last night.
Great start to the new year!

Nice post.
I was thinking of doing this mod on some of my equipment. What made you decide to take on the electrical part of your audio system?Statistics show that 98% of us will die at some point in our lifetime.
The other 2% will work for WalMart. -
I'm an addict.
I have boxes full of IEC's, and male plugs.
IEC inputs and receptacles.
Power cables, and techflex.
Ever watch "hoarders"?
Thats me, but on the AC side of this hobby.
Guess there are worst things I could be doing.:biggrin:Testing

I use these on the Furman to make 2 outlets into 4.
Top one is XLO Ultra type X-10 power cable with Furutech FI-11 Cu male plug going into a Pass & Seymour 5262A for amps (I usually have a Furutech FT-D 20A gold but decided to go with something different).
Bottom one is some OCC 12/3 with a P&S 8200MRI non ferrous/non magnetic (even the mounting screws are non magnetic) for digital CDP/Pre's.
I Rhinolined the Bell box (bottom one) and cover for effect (cryoed Wattgate 5266 male plug).
Works great!
I am such a fanatic, I have Pass & Seymour 8200h hospital grade receptacles on my workbench!

Just wanted to mention and maybe save you some time and effort, the OCC copper 12/3 (more detailed),& P&S receptacle (alittle bright but detailed), combined with the cryoed WattGate male plug (more laid back) really tames the "Didgititis" in most cheap DVD players, but still retains great detail, depth, soundstage, bass ,mids, ect.
Some of the cheaper connectors can be used to tame the brightness of cheaper dvd and cdp's.
You still get Very good detail/dynamics, without the harshness of digital.
This is not my main system, but I damn sure took it up a couple of levels with these simple, and cheap tweaks!
Surely, you can appreciate the "Bite" of instruments with these Furutech copper connectors/receptacles.
$44.50 Total for the Adcom.
$21.95 for the Furman.
Under $70 for both conditioners!
And I am sure you can imagine the improvement!!!!!!!!:biggrin:Testing

Had the stock IEC input left over from the Furman AC215, so I decided to make a cheapo cable burner.
Wired with Carol 12 ga. stranded, and gold faston connectors, P&S hospital grade receptacle.
A cheap way to burn power cables (hook it up to a small heater or fridge).

Nice work pepster! You should consider making some extra money by offering your skills to do electrical upgrades etc... Keep up the good work:)

To test the cable burner, I hooked up a 10 ga. power cable with Oyaide connectors to a VERY small digital alarm clock.
Think the time was more "accurate"?:biggrin:Testing
