Does anyone know if it is feasable to change the stock 2 prong AC Cable which is physically connected to the audio equipment to a 3 prong which is a higher AWG and a ground wire.

Any advice on whether or not it can or should be done without having to redo the circuitry?

Depending on what it's being hooked up to, it can be done. And it's pretty simple to do, too, at least on the couple of Adcoms I tried it on. The only way to know for sure is to take the cover off.

If you're going to use an upgraded PC anyway, just do the mod for an IEC connector, that way you can try many different power cords.

this is the thread I started for a mod on an Adcom amp. I did a GTP-450 preamp as well. The stock power cords in these items are simply wired with crimp-on connectors to the units transformer. The ground wire can be connected to the chassis, or just cut off (there may be groundloop/hum issues, but I have yet to experience them...YMMV).
So, are you willing to put forth a little effort or are you happy sitting in your skeptical poo pile?
