I am trying to get together a list of the best movies from 2000-2010, especially those that I have not seen. List your favorite movies from the last decade.
I'll start with a few:
Gran Torino
Harry Potter series (especially the last few)
Inception
Inglourious ****
Pirates series
Star Wars Ep III
The Town
Dark Knight
V for Vendetta

Ok, I'm being a little picky here but your list is spanning 11 years not 10. Also is this a "best" list or "favorites" list? Honestly some of those movies you've listed although good, certainly wouldn't come even close to a "best" of the decade list.
What about such greats as
The Pianist
No Country For Old Men
Atonement
Gangs of New York
The Lord of Rings trilogy
Gladiator
A Beautiful Mind
Master and Commander
Cinderaella Man
Billion Dollar Baby
Mystic River
The Aviator
A.I.
Aaron Brockovitch
Cold Mountain
The Curious Case of Benjiman Button
Kill Bill 1 and2
The Passion of the Christ
The list goes on and on.SDA-1C (full mods)

haha wow... oops. Forgive my stupidity.
Well, I guess I am not looking for IMDB here. I've already seen the top 100 movies of the 2000's on there. I guess I used the term kinda synonymously since movies are subjective... favorites will do -
Add Facing the Giants to the list.
It may be a low budget movie, but the story is amazing. -
The "Pirates" series, outside of the first one, is HORRIBLE. Each one is worse than the one before it. Too bad after such a great first movie.Fongolio wrote:Aaron Brockovitch

No, the ugly twin who dropped out of law school, worked in a gas station/convenience store and lobbied for and won the gas station's right to install those machines that charge 25 cents a pop for tire air. Enthralling movie.

Thsi thread is kind of pointless if people are just listing every movie they liked from the past ten years. BEST. Your absolute favorite. No one is reading your list of 100 movies. If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

Seeing how the OP has a fairly long list...maybe it is what he envisioned."Just because youre offended doesnt mean youre right." - Ricky Gervais

I s'pose. I just don't see the point of saying that every movie that you kind of enjoyed inthe past ten years is the "best of the past decade." There's a reason people make top 5 and top 10's, they're easily digestible and provide something to talk about.
Heck, if we're just gonna list movies, here's the 86 English-Language feature films on IMDb created from 2001 to 2010 that have an 8.0 or better rating
http://www.imdb.com/search/title?countries=%C2%B7%C2%B7%C2%B7%C2%A0Common%20Countries%C2%A0%C2%B7%C2%B7%C2%B7&languages=en&num_votes=1000,&production_status=released&release_date=2001-01,2010-01&title_type=feature&user_rating=8.0,10If you will it, dude, it is no dream. -

My bad.
So THAT'S who's responsible!?!?!? I want to KILL that person!! Paying for air at a gas station pisses me off to no end!! It's ridiculous!!!
I can honestly say that in the last 10 years, I haven't really watched that many new movies. Some that stood out for me though....
The Lord of the Rings Trilogy
The Harry Potter series
Star Wars 2 and 3
Iron Man
Batman Begins
Batman The Dark Knight
Honestly, those are the only newer movies that I can even really recall seeing from the last ten years. I feel like there should be a lot more than that...
Apparently that part of my memory hasn't returned yet, since my accident......:frown:The nirvana inducer-

I gave the criteria for my list. If I thought enough to spend my money on it...for me it was one of the best of the decade...IMO. If I listed 130 movies that's 13 per year. Lots of top 20 BY YEAR lists out there. And just because the masses rate a movie high means nothing to me. There are quite a few on my list that are not on anybody elses...and there are some on your (well IMDb's) list rated 8+ that I did not like. He asked...I answered. Sorry it didn't meet your criteria."Just because youre offended doesnt mean youre right." - Ricky Gervais

"Consistency requires you to be as ignorant today as you were a year ago." - Bernard Berenson -
Don't apologize, not trying to attack or be a dick, just making a comment.
Besides, you have Transformers 2 on a list of "best movies." YOur opinion is moot.If you will it, dude, it is no dream. -

Just skimming this thread has convinced me that I don't want to add my list. Some of the choices posted here are ridiculous and I'm too sensitive to take criticism. Lasareath's suggestion is surprisingly not a bad idea.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Thanks for the Movie Base top 250 and the the top 8 and above over the last 10 years. That list is awsome. I've owned alot of them and enjoyed them as much as the public did. Maybe more than the general public due to my surround set-ups.:biggrin:Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Tropic Thunder. It's a Top 5 comedy of all time for me.

About long lists....
After getting 5 or fewer movies from many posters, most being the same movies that have been listed, I think it would be fine to list more than that... if everyoine is going to say "inception and the dark knight" this list wouldn't be very fun
Don't restrict yourself to the ones that won't embarrass you :P -
