Has anyone compared these two speakers? I have the r40's and am considering switching to save space. I would like to upgrade my system to the RTi line anyway. Any comments or suggestions

Rti38's are great speakers, I havent personally listened to the R40's but i didn't like the 30's at all... both nice speakers with the 38's shinning on quality and bass, Like i said i havent heard the 40's but the r30's weren't all that.. I say get stands and 38's.. if they sound 'better" to you.. and i think they will

IMHO --- THE R SERIES (NO OFFENSE TO ANY R SERIES OWNER) has gotta be the WORST series POLK has EVER made. I mean it sounded like a bass heavy Jensen. Atleast their TOTL R Series Bookshelf did. It was so bad. If that is how the Tower's sound...then...RTi38 HANDS DOWN. No doubt, the RTi38 (RT35i) is WORLDS better in EVERYTHING. But it is not as bass heavy as the R series. Which was boomy at that.
This is my opinion, I am not trying to start a war.

The RTi series is a step above the R's. I'm sure you're going to enjoy the RTi38. They won't have as much bass as your R40 but they'll sound more refined.

I agree with the RTi38 sentiments over the R40. Plus you mentioned floor space and they certainly are more flexible.

I have mine wall mounted, and they sound excellent.

Let us know what you decide on. :)

I have the R50's and R15's and are happy with them. They are not as bad as you say Sid IMHO. Not trying to start a war either.

I think the R series is cool. Great price, decent performance how could you go wrong with that? :)

Their not *terrible*, but I turned on the R20, then the RT15i. night and day. The RT15i could easily have its way with the R20 except in bass.
