Don't remember the album,,but the song was "Morning Dew",, first time I remember hearing it was on cassette while on Marble Mountain 1970JC approves....he told me so. (F-1 nut)

I've listened to a few bootlegs and other "official" recordings but I find this to be the most coherent live album. Sound quality is good enough to be studio but it really captures their fantastic ability to "jam" live.
China Cat Sunflower and Jack Straw....
Ohhhh yeah.
Studio- Workingman's Dead, hands down.Sounds good to me... -
george: looks like the released 'morning dew' in 67 on 'grateful dead'
rev: europe 72 is on my list..i have workingman's dead..great americana going on there:cool: -
I believe this was the LP,,it certainly brings back some memories,,sitting on a hill overlooking a green misty river,,hillside dotted with the old French guardtowers, fastforward to summer nights, convertables,, hair blowing in the wind,,,just scored some Fleetwood Mac tickets,,push button telephones,Burger King Whoppers quelled the munchies from the 15 dollah lids of Mexican,,oops,,responsibilities are glaring at me. Feeling kinda nostalgic tonite,,carry on.JC approves....he told me so. (F-1 nut)

Atlanta Municipal Auditorium 6/20/74- Imho the best "Eyes of the World" Phil & Jerry going off. If you like bass you'll enjoy this.
Dick's Picks Vol. 5, Oakland, CA 12/26/79 D2 - Killer "Uncle Johns Band", classic Jerry
Springfield C.C. Springfield, MA - 05/11/78 - "Scarlet Begonias > Fire On The Mountain, Fun funky version during Fire you can hear them cracking each other up.
Meadowlands Arena, 4/17/83 D1 - "Playin' In The Band", spacy, funky and Phil being Phil good stuff!!!!
Roscoe Maples Pavilion - Stanford University 2/9/73 - "China Cat Sunflower > I Know You Rider", First show of 73 and they uncorked a ferocious version of this song, the segue into I Know You Rider is fantastic with Billy & Phil leading the way.
Hartford Civic Center, 4/17/82 - "Shakedown Street", One of their finer efforts on this tune. Brent's solo towards the end was sublime almost jazz like also later in the set check out "Spanish Jam" going into "Space" again Brent on fire.
I could go on and on, if anyone who is following this thread and doesn't know or wants to know more about The Dead I highly suggest you check out Archives and download some FlacsMonitor 7C's With Tubes -

Dick's Picks Volume 8 is a great one. First set/disc is acoustic, other 2 discs contain some classics, a good version of Mr. Daniels' Mountain Dew recommendation included.Wristwatch--->Crisco

No music downloads there, but all the lyrics for the original Dead songs and annotations for a lot of the more obscure phrases and words. Makes for some interesting reading.
If you haven't listened to the remaster of Workingman's Dead, you owe to yourself to do so. I've also been listening to Rocking the Cradle a bit lately. Certainly not the Dead at their finest , but it is a piece of history."The secret of happiness is freedom. The secret of freedom is courage." Thucydides -
you guys got me started,,so I dug around today and found this in my pile-- Smokestack Lightning is pretty good,,it was recorded @ The Fillmore Feb 13 &14 1970 by Bill Graham and Owsley Stanley.JC approves....he told me so. (F-1 nut)

Taken from a recent Audioholics reply regarding "Club Polk" and Polk speakers:
"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion."
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

Anything in the studio over their live stuff. I have heard dozens of their live shows and without fail, all of them sounded like crap. The harmonies were terrible, the music uninspired. No wonder so many of the people at their shows were so high...it was the only way to enjoy the show!Music and Movie Rig
