Monitor 5 question

I have a pair of Monitor 5 speakers that I bought in 1982.I want to put my old stereo in my workshop. Unless I am actually working in the shop,it has no heat or A/C. I only use the shop in my spare time so mostly it has no heat or air conditioning. Will this be detrimental to my speakers? Thank you for any expertise you can provide.

Welcome to Club Polk. All electronic items are affected by heat and cold. Same with the materials that speakers are made from, wood and the driver material.
A perfect environment is the temperature and humidity controlled environment of your home. Outside of this controlled environment there are additional stresses to the equipment. The amount of stress and risk for operation have to do not only with the temperature and humidity, but rapid changes of those two parameters. Such as transporting a receiver and speaker system home in the back of a pickup when it is 20 degrees out, bringing it inside a warm home and immediately powering it up.
If I was going to leave these items in my shop I would protect them by utilizing some form of HVAC to maintain the shop's temperature within a reasonable temperature band. What is reasonable can be debated but 50-85 degrees should not induce too much risk.
What temperatures extremes do you believe that this shop sees?
Is humidity an issue where you live? -
You may want to consider some outdoor speakers. Usually, the cabinets are polymer or metal and will not swell and separate like the wood fiber cabinets. The driver cones are also polymer vs the treated paper cones used in the Monitor 5.Stan
