"Collapse" and Enron documentary

Man, I watched both of these last night. These are 2 that make you think a bit. First was a movie off Netflix called Collapse. It revolves around the notion of the world has already hit "peak oil" in terms if supply, and we are on the downside of the bell-curve of available oil supply. Michael Ruppert does come off a bit alarmist / conspiracy theorist in this interview/documentary style film, but if even what half of what he claims is actually true...check it out with an open mind and then decide for yourself. Here's a link:

The 2nd thing I caught on CNBC was a documentary, "Enron - smartest guys in the room". One word to describe what happened with Enron - unbelievable. I think 9/11 overshadowed many of the details of how the execs of this firm basically built a house of cards. I found myself saying 'I don't remember that....' a few times while watching. I'm sure CNBC will re-air this a couple times.

Just a couple of recommendations for your viewing pleasure - please don't turn them into a political debate. I am interested if anyone else has caught these...

Collapse is in my instant queue; just haven't gotten down to it yet. Sounds very interesting; I'll try to watch it in the next couple of days.

I haven't seen Collapse, but will add it based on the sounds of it.

Enron is an excellent movie - highly recommended to anyone who hasn't seen it. 9/11 completely overshadowed what happened with this company.

I enjoyed the Enron CNBC piece as well.. they really did have something figured out.. but what happens when the Rats know there's an experiment going on? Problems arise...

Seem to recall that there was a Shell geologist that in the 50's predicted an oil peak in the 90's.

Enron's "house of cards" was built upon a foundation of criminality. Anytime you sell assets, but never remove them from your books, that is fraud.

CNBC has done many strong, objective looks at any number of issues and companies.

Collapse was VERY good; thanks for the recommendation.

As you said, even if he is half right, there are scary times ahead...
