Adcom 555 2 Caps

I've read here about Adcom amps that require replacement of the caps. Is this any more prevalent in some models or are they all likely to need replacement after several years? I understand that time and not use is what causes caps to eventually fail.
I'm looking at a 555 II that is supposed to be in good condition but I'm not experienced at this type of repair and having it done professionally would probably be expensive. TIA

The 585 and 565 mono's had a bad run of caps from ELNA, some models had a leak. It only affected a small amount of those models only
So no, no leaky cap issue with the 555's or 555II's. On that note the original 555 is getting pretty long in the tooth with age so a recap is a good idea, same with the 555II, IIRC the series II amps were capacitor coupled so those caps should be replaced.

You could always have it benched and see if the amp is still in spec or borderline.
No sense in creating a problem where none may exist. -
Thanks for all replies. This model seems to draw the most interest of any Adcoms other than the 5800s and 5802s on e-bay and other for sale sites. Any opinions on Adcoms 5 channel amps? Thanks again.TO ERR IS HUMAN. TO FORGIVE IS CANINE.
