So it finally happened. And just when I was supposed to get my 100th star.
I bought need for speed most wanted from a seller in the U.S. thinking it a better option than buying from a china or india seller and what did I get.

No bloody case.No flaming manual. And no CD key to be able to play the game.Blood and bloody ashes.(Matt Cauthorn. The wheel of time)

Yes thats right all I got was the cd shoved into a bubble mailer without even a cheap paper cd sleeve.:mad::mad::mad::mad:

What a nasty day before christmas surprise.

I forgot to mention no returns accepted.Ill just have to use the ebay buyer protection and paypal BS to try and get this guy banned.Maybe Ill even call EA and let them know about this.
Damn Im pissed.I was so looking forward to playing what is said to be The Best Racing Game out there right now.

Care to post a link to the auction? Hard to offer advice without complete understanding.

It sucks, but it has happened, and will continue to happen, to everyone who buys on eBay. Just like the rest of the world, there are some great people on eBay and some a$$holes. If you shop on eBay to find bargains, you need to be patient and selective. Even then, once in a while you get stung.

Use the protections offered to you by eBay (and PayPal, credit card, etc., if used) such as they are, and don't let it bring your holiday down. Run out to Game Stop (or similar used game store), spend another $20-40, and enjoy your game.

He doesn't mention a manual or CD case in his ad, but that's pretty cheesy on his part.

But .... email him and at least you'll get the CD Key and be able to play.

4 years ago I won an auction for 2 JL Audio car speakers listed in excellent condtion. What I received was a pair of the most abused and damaged speakers I've ever seen. There was literally holes in the cones from screwdrivers mounting. plus the surrounds had been reglued and I swear the glue was flung on from across the room. I almost cried when I saw these pieces of shite. And to list them in excellent condition!! I got my money back but it's truly staggering what some people think is acceptable selling practice on ebay. I hope you get the cd key and can at least play the game. Good luck.

Yeah. You would assume that the case and manual would be included since the game just came out and who would throw out the case anyway.Unless he is making copies and selling those too.The cd I got looks legit but you never know these days....

Never assume and ALWAYS ask questions before purchases like this on ebay. It does say, "This is for the game and the Cd Key". One would normally assume the other articles are included but you can't assume anything on ebay.

It is always what is NOT said which is the trick. Technically his ad is correct and legitimate. Good luck. I hope it works out.

Am I correct that the seller has only sold 2 items on Ebay? No thanks. I tend to only deal with people who sold 500 or more items. Gotta watch yourself out there bro. Sometimes deal aren't always what they're cracked up to be. Now you got me worried about my parts purchase for my BMW 745i. Dang it!!!

I once bought a fairly inexpensive two channel amp on ebay. The picture of it had it sitting on a bed. Since the amp pushed into the mattress, you couldn't see the corner that was dented from him dropping it. The jackass. Most of the time it's easy cruising though. I certainly take the cautious approach to everything online though...

I've always felt that a person needs to build a bit of a reputation from buying before selling. And, I always look at recent tansactions to get a sense of who I'm buying from.

Did you ever hear about the CD key?

After opening a case I got the key/serial number a couple days later.
The guy CLAIMED he sent me a few emails with a pic of the booklet. Why he just didnt mail me the booklet is well,,,I dont know. That would make too much sense I suppose.

OH well I got the key and this game rocks.I will have to try and find an online manual to get to understand some of the control options but for now...Ill wreck some cops.

Good to hear that it turned out OK. Yup, number of sales and time with ebay is very important. I almost always ask a basic question about the item, or shipping, just to get a feel for how they interact with a potential customer as well. I have been on ebay for over 10 yrs, and have only been burned once, but it was for $2,000!! I eventually got $1600 back, after my local PD Detectives found his father and spoke with him. After that, he paid that right away, in lieu of me suing him. The other $400 I got back from homeowners. It took over a month and a half to get my money back, though! Take care, and be all the wiser.

If you really wanted to push the issue, I think he misrepresented the item. In the "Condition section", he had it specified as:

"Like New: An item that looks as if it was just taken out of shrink wrap. No visible wear, and all facets of the item are flawless and intact. See the seller’s listing for full details and description of any imperfections "

Last time I checked, the case is an important part of a CD or DVD. By not having a case, how can he say all facets of the item are intact?

I think Paypal would side with you, but if the game isn't scratched and you now have the key/serial number, it might not be worth the trouble...
