Is there any news on the new Polk LSi speakers?

Last I heard they were going to be released at the beginning of 2011. Is that on track? Has a definite date been chosen?

What about the discussed demo program? Did that take place?

Any decision on body colors other than cherry and black?

I was at Polk about 2 weeks ago. Got to see them firsthand complete and with a cutaway. They are very sharp looking and extremely well braced. Didn't get a chance to listen though. Stay tuned. Cheers.

Ah, now the dilemma thickens. I have been brainstorming my upstairs system and was leaning towards used Totems, another DefTech system, or v5 series paradigms since their new series is coming out and I have seen them for about 20-35% off. However, I might have to hold off now.

Ive been wanting to hear these for a while now, and wish they would've been out sooner. Already bought me some new 2 channel speakers so I guess I'll catch these in a year or so on Polk direct.

Those of us at PolkFest 2010 had a chance to listen to the working Towers....tweaks are still being made. But they were already better at resolving detail than the previous series with a couple of minor kinks to work out. Members added their opinions and comments/suggestions.

That said. These speakers are absolutely 'gorgeous' next to the previous plain Jane LSIs...the towers weighed about 100 lbs each without the crossovers in them! So you can imagine what the final product will be like. Personally, I was quite impressed with the as yet not quite ready for marketing version. The final product will even be better.

    Worth waiting for IMHO!

While I'm at it. Curt deserves a pair of FREE LSI-9s as a 'get well' present.

    Can anyone make that happen?

That is good news. I have been holding of on upgrading my HT front speakers because of these. Originally, I was going to go with PSB Synchrony One towers, but decided to wait for the 707 (I think that is the number) model to be available.

I might have to hold on to my Anthem amp afterall, doubt a NAD T955 would push these if I get them.

Looks like the LSi25 got knocked up by my Mythos ST, darn good looking kid. Maybe it will inherit the bass of the ST and the voice of the LSi.

I enjoyed the LSi for music a little better, but preferred the Mythos for HT MUCH more. I also really appreciated that the Mythos sound great with a receiver without any fears of loads or huge loss of performance. The LSi required much more to sound as good IMO. I have always planned on two seperate systems so I didn't mind going with the Mythos now and a possible stereo focused system later. The Mythos ST have been a great purchase and their performance for HT and gaming is incredible as well as being able to fill a 3200sq foot house with ease during parties or entertainment nights. Would Paradigm, LSi, or more music focused speakers beat them for music? Sure, but I don't think they would beat them at the other uses, especially running off a receiver.

However, I think it is going to be fun to give them all a run at one point and time.

Edit: Wow, just realize the prices increased considerably, now I will have to debate some more.

Yes. This is a whole new beast. The LSi15s were $1600 for a pair, and the LSiM707 are $2K each. Quite a difference, and I expect the quality, both build and sound, to be equal to the price. Ideally, we have 'giant killers' here where the sound is at the $5K level. At least, that's my hope.

These do look like awesome speakers, looks like they took ideas from Def Tech however... One question, where are they made? I wouldn't mind looking into something like this down the road but at the price point, they'd better be made here...

Anyone know if these speakers will maintain the 4 ohm impedance or be just as power hungry?

Yes, they are still 4ohm speakers, and require separate amplification.

I whole heartedly agree with this statement!!!:biggrin:

I have a feeling that a pair of LSi9's would cut my recovery time in half due to sheer bliss!! I'd be ripping this cast off my leg within hours of having them hooked up!

But...I'd still be "in pain", of course...so I could continue getting all these wonderful pain meds....lol

After that, I'd have to work on coma number 2, and see if I could manage to get myself a Pass Labs INT-150 get well present.

    Then comes coma number 3, with a Marantz SA-11S2!! After that...I think I'll be coma'd out...lol

With the new "Higher End" LSi series coming out soon,I wonder if there will be a newer series to bridge the gap between them and the current RTi series?

BTW,I love the look of the new LSi's...very sexy

They remind me of my PSBs in that there are no external screws securing the drivers, and the grills fit into a slot along the edge. I have always wondered how you get access to the drivers with this design.
