Well no sooner do i get my tweeter pods finished and installed does my truck get broken into. last night my truck and 4 other vehicles were all broken into in a parking garage in down town Greenville SC. my buddy that parked right next to me had 2 guns stolen and i had my cd player, blackberry, and hard drive stolen. they had to pull my dash apart and break the homade all metal mounts i had made for just such an event, they might have gotten it but it didnt go without a fight. i had it bolted in with all 1/4" head grade 8 hardware and a machined aluminum mount. idiots never looked under the back seat where my amp was nor did they open up the unlocked tool box in the bed that had approx 600.00 in tools in it. forensics came out but couldnt get a print off of any of the 5 vehicles, prob wore gloves. hoping the guns will show up and be able to track back from there. if anyone sees a pioneer deh-p800prs (this is some what unusual cd player in comparison to most others out there) for sale on ebay, craigslist or anywhere else please let me know. only good thing that will come out of it is that im either getting an audison bit one and kenwood dnx9960, or the newer version of my unit the pioneer dex-p99rs.

Its that time of year again where idiots/scum of the earth/crackheads/worthless uneducated/lazy/no good are out looking to take what everyone else works for so watch your stuff and dont assum just b/c you parked in a nice part of town in a well lit and video maintained area that your car isnt subject to such events.

Sorry about the break-in. Like you said, at least some of the stuff survived.

The p-99 is at a different level vs the p-800. It is the best 1-din unit today, if you're not going to use a processor. 31 band eq vs the 16 for the p-800, setting in 0.5db steps vs 2db steps. TA has finer control on the p-99 and some extra slopes for your mids and tweets. The p-99 has the potential to give you much better sound the older p-800/880 sets. When set correctly, this unit would take you about 80% of the way to top grade competition sound. If you're a compulsive tweaker and comming off the p-800, this set will keep you busy for a couple of years at least .

But, the eq is still summed for drivers. The ability to eq your drivers seperately is of great value around certain frequencies. It would allow you to better integrate the sub and mids w/o the sub bearing down on your mid bass and midrange. A better transition between your sub and mid bass.

Then again, at around 3-5khz the mids and tweets are doing different things. 2-3khz is the beaming range for your mids but not your tweets. With a summed eq if you correct for the mids the tweets are out of kilter and often this will drag the centre image towrds you. In a nut shell, the processor will give you better and sharper imaging and better tonality to boot.

If you're going to use that kenny as source then you also get the bonus of navigation, dvd etc.

    Oh man, that freaking blows.
I had my DNX9410 stolen last summer together with $1,000 in cash, credit cards and id. On top of all damage offcourse - glass, rips and tears on panels, random car parts that were easier to take WITH DNX rather then dicsonnect, cut wire harness....

When cops came in they said my car was #11 within weeks to be broken into in that same parking light yet noone was ever found, no cameras were ever installed...

I'm sorry to hear about that, but FTR, that's theft, not vandalism. Either way, it sucks big time to have been a victim.

Arun, i was under the impression that the pioner would do independant eq adjustments per speaker, is that not the case??

It's independent for left and right. But summed for all the drivers on one side vs the processor which would give independent control on each driver.

Edit : Damn! saw epraters post and clicked reply. Didn't see Skips post.

Wow that really sucks. Also goes to show that you should never leave anything important just laying around in your vehicle. If your head unit faceplate is able to come off then take it off, and take it with you. Most thefts are like that though. They only go after what they see right then and there. If it can be taken in less that 15 sec-1:00 min then it is gone. Also they dont want to get caught by any means, so quickness is the key for most theives. All in all it really sucks, no matter how you look at. Hope it all goes well for you.

    Thanks.

Yes it does suck that it happened but on a positive note lookie what i picked up today!!!!!!! Stating the install right now, will post up some pics along the way. Progressive really took care of me on this one. On a side note i am adding an additional line item to my ins just to cover my new equipment and suggest everyone check out their policy and its coverages.

Stinks. I deal with this on a weekly basis in my line of work, and its happened to me. Hate it.

This is what I can tell you, I have a good friend who had his house broken into a few months back, they stole a handgun, 2 PS3's, games, money, etc... It took only a week to catch them. They tried to pawn the pistol which was their mistake, however by the sound of your install, they most likely have been through this if they got around everything, so they may be smart enough to not pawn the guns. Good luck, I hope they catch them. But now at least you get to enjoy the fun of a new install!!

I hade a code alarm, can't remember the model but it was their best one bout 4 years ago... awesome alarm, hard install (I needed help from a buddy who does it for a living) but worth every penny. How's that HRU workin out for ya??? Were some of the very few to own em. Jus curious, why ya go with soundstream? I mean its not like ya can demo that amp anywhere before ya hear it. I bought one when I heard it in a competition car... no brainer after that. Ps... use a blt with it, you won't regret it!
