marantz pre for my 500Us?

I have two extra marantz ma 500U 125wpc amp
A two channel rig is just a preamp away.
I have some speakers and a few shotguns and hand cannons i could selectively part with. and maybe get 150 bucks together.
should i try to locate a marantz to pair with amps.
if not, what good pre can i expect for this kind of money.
any info would be appreciated.

As far as I know (but have no personal experience or own one) MA500u is made for use as both stereo or HT amps. You could probably find an old Marantz receiver from that era if you want a close matching Marantz pre.
But you could use any stereo preamp with it or AVR with preout or processor. You can get some Carver Preamps, B&K preamps, some Pioneer (silver face) or Acurus preamps around $150. You need to search eBay and Audiogon diligently.Trying out Different Audio Cables is a Religious Affair. You don't discuss it with anyone. :redface::biggrin:
