What do you think about the Emotiva XPA-3 who generate 200W/ channel. It's a 3 channel power amp.

With my center, right and left plugged to it, I cannot believe that the others will not have enough power from my Onkyo NX3008!!!

That would work, though not my first choice, lots here use Emotiva amps and like them.

That will work just fine, since a lot of strain will be taken off of the receiver from trying to drive the 3 more demanding speakers.

I know that there is better amps but, sometime you need to adjust your needs with your budget.

And from what I read, Emotiva seem to be good with a good price. Dont forget that my 55 lbs Onky is supposed to deliver 140 w /channel.

Get the Emotiva, and you will be just fine until the next upgrade bite hits.

It might deliver quite a bit of watts to the 2 channels that won't be amped. But when you hear how good your front 3 will sound you will start wondering how good the back 2 will sound with separate amplification!

    I speak from experience.

I got in on that sale too. Did you have problems last night with the servers not keeping up? I sure as hell did. Ended up giving up for a while and trying again at midnight.

Think you mean $799 for the pair no? :)

I leveraged the same offer and we are three of the lucky 160 that were able to snap up these outstanding speakers.

According to Purolator, they will be delivered either tomorrow or Thursday......cannot wait!

    Same here.

Now we really gotta figure out something to drive them.

Conventional wisdom says 200wpc minimum....... How, where?

I picked up my B&K from audiogon. It's a great reliable place for second hand equipment that will fit any price range.

200W is a ballpark. Plenty of good ideas for amps on this forum, starting with the ever-popular, economical Emotiva. But, amps don't wear out quickly, and many folks take exceptional care of their gear, so more-renowned brands can often be had on the used market. Check the aforementioned audiogon.com. Get your read on, and don't settle. You'll be glad. Those speakers will sing with a good amp!

Hey everyone first post here...good info love the forum
I've been a long time Polk fan currently running R50's for my fronts but wanting to upgrade to the RTI10's that Future Shop has on sale for $249.99 each (wasn't fast enuff to pull the trigger on the A9's, congrats to those that did!!) Got a new amp the Denon AVR-791 and wondering if 90w/channel is powerful enough to run the RTI10's and my current system?

    Here's what I have;

    R50's Fronts
CS245i Center or Energy RC Mini as I have both (which is better??)
    RT35i Rears
PSW250 Sub or Klipsch RW-10d as I have both (which is better??)

Thanks for any advice you can offer...cheers

Welcome to the club. You should really start your own thread on this but to answer your questions I'll give it a shot. Yes, you can get sound from the rti10 speakers with that avr, but not what those speakers are capable of. Your Denon is probably putting out less than 90 watts when you run it in surround mode. Plus you can't add an amp because that receiver doesn't have preouts. If you want to stick with that receiver, I suggest the monitor line of speakers. Their are many threads here covering receivers and powering speakers. You can use the search button to dig some more info up.

I most likely just bought the avr-791 which is a little unfortunate because you really should have gotten one with pre-outs. Your receiver will run the speakers fine but i would not tax them too much. Do not turn the receiver up too loud as it can damage both the receiver and speakers. I would say the klipsch sub may do a little bit better. Using the sub will obviously take a lot of strain off on the receiver.
