RTi8 vs RTi A9
I noticed a nice boxing day speacial offering a pair of A9's for 800 dollars. I understand that this is an amazing deal and am thinking of trying to get in on the very limited stock.
I have RTi 8's right now, each getting 200 watts from a B&K amp. My sub is the PSW 505.
For those who have heard both the 8's and the A9's: will the difference in the low end be very big, and if so, would I maybe be better off upgrading my sub?
Will there be a noticable difference in the lower mid range? Perhaps a slightly warmer sound overall?
I have heard various RTi speakers, but only when powered by an avr.
I haven't done a speaker upgrade for a LONG time. Currently have the CSi5 and the FXi A4 surrounds. If you were me, would you try to get in on this deal, or perhaps wait for a future full LSi series upgrade.

YES! The RTi-A9s are the badA$$es of that series. If you want room filling sound that is big, bold and generally a little 'warmer' than the little brothers. This is your speaker.
I would upgrade my sub later....because the PSW505 will work for a while longer with these....but you will want to go BIGGER and BADDER--eventually once you hear the A9s.
Enjoy...you have a good AMP to drive them!

Those are great speakers and a great upgrade. You already have a good amp for them, and your center and surrounds would still be essentially timbre matched, so go for it!

A9's all day baby!!!!

The A9's are a fantastic sounding speaker!! Their advantages over the RTi8's go well beyond simply having more low end too.
Because of the D'appolito array in the mid/tweeter section, the brightness that plagues many of the RTi series speakers is greatly reduced. High end is much smoother sounding, and blends with the midrange a lot more seamlessly. They've also got a more prominent midrange due to having two dedicated drivers for the midbands.
Low end is vastly better than the RTi8's...but that should be a given.

It's a nice choice. -
Thanks for the information everybody. I hope I am one of the lucky ones able to actually snag this deal. I'm going for it!
And to all newbs, let this be a lesson: Club Polk will always find a way to help you lighten your wallet! -
Music of HT?
For HT I personally prefer the RTi8's and a good sub. I like the mid-range in the 8's better for HT.
For music the A9's are a better choice, but 800 can snag you a pair of used LSi15's that will be quite a bit better for music.
800 is a great price for new A9's though!

Well, looks like I put a 900 dollar (after taxes) dent into the bank account and have some RTi A9's on the way.
