All those bands

I wanted to actually go through the article and put down all the words, but I'm here at work and don't have it.

I read a review of some speakers in a Sound & Vision (wasn't the current issue). Within that one review, I read:

bass
upper bass
lower midrange
mid treble
high treble

You get the idea.

Plus the usual airy and crisp and etc etc etc.

Maybe it is the EE in me, but I really wanted a reference box along with the article... the frequencies conforming to what this guy meant by 'mid treble', for example, would be helpful.

I'm not coming down on S&V because I've run into the same problem elsewhere.

Regardless of what the different reviewers may think, *IS* there a standard? I've seen (and wish I had a poster, actually) the chart of all the iinstruments and the frequency band each operates in. But even those don't break it down like some of the reviewers.

This guy, actually, seemed more in his own world than most. I swear the only reference he didn't use was "with a hint of coloration similar to what my bamboo wind chime sounds like after I've sparked a big phatty and spent 3 hours trying to make my CD player run backwards .. I tell you.. it says Paul is dead!"
