I have been very happy with my older Denon receivers.

Anyone have this model? There are now some very reduced prices on it at a couple of sellers.

thanks...

It looks similarly spec'd to my AVR-3311ci. You get networking and FLAC support (among other formats), 5 more wpc, probably alc processing plus on all channels (as opposed to the front 2 on the 3311), fancier main remote. It'll probably get firmware updates once you connect the ethernet cable. Audyssey DSX is there, pre-outs are there, anchor bay video processing ... it's hdmi 1.3a. It may accept DSD or at the very least high bitrate / multi ch pcm over hdmi for SACD.

I can't find the full spec sheet on the Denon site, but it should be better than mine in some respects. And I love my receiver :)

And a little cheaper than my 3311! Looks good to me.

The spec sheet is a bit confusing, but it appears to have decoding for DTS HD and D True HD?? This requires the HDMI 1.3 right?

    thanks

Yes it's 1.3a repeater. It doesn't won't do 3d, but it will do just about everything that was available last year. I have a 3310 and am quite happy with it.

I just put together a HT system in which I incorporated Polk LC265i fronts, an LCi-C, LC80FX surrounds and a PSW450. I also incorporated the Denon 4310ci AVR. One can find great prices on this component right now.

My only issue with this unit (IMO) is its ability to push the in wall/ceiling Polks. The LCi series operate at 4 ohms. Given my situation, I wish I had more power.

My only hesitation here....would be Dan's (mantis's) comments about the reliability of new Denons and also his statements that they don't have great dynamic slam.

To be honest...I have not heard the NEWER models myself. I own a 4 year old Denon...whose 'warm' strong sound I like very much. It also, IMO, makes a pretty good pre/pro because of that 'sound'. Sounds very nice with my Adcom for example (a good combo, BTW).

I'd say take a listen because I can't personally confirm Dan's opinions but I do respect them because he's installed tons of these models.

I have read about some bugs w/ the xx10 series but as far as my 3311 goes, it looks like any issues the previous gen had have been fixed - and perhaps the '10s have been fixed as well through firmware updates. I've seen no glitches w/ my receiver thus far - not really sure what each of the firmware updates have done either ;)

Perhaps checking out one of the owner forums somewhere to see if people have any issues currently is a good idea.
