I really shot myself in the foot on this one, but still got ripped off.

Bought a pair of rare E80CC D-getter soff ebay, used some eBay bucks too.

They did not test as stated, when tested on my Amplitrex AT1000.

I followed eBay's advice and contacted the seller who told me to send them back. They had good feedback (now another new negative though) and were open to the return so I shipped back the same way they did...1st Class mail no tracking.

Since the cost would be about $25 for tracked Priority, I was cheap. So then I file an eBay complaint to protect myself, and eBay starts asking for tracking. When I didn't have it they closed the case and now they won't even let me leave negative feedback as it has been too long, while I patiently waited for the seller to email me.

No word from the seller for 2 months now. Don't be cheap like me; it felt wrong for me to foot the bill but I simply should have put my foot down and made them pay for return shipping. I figured I would be nice and cover the return 1st Class. I'm way too trusting.

Why didnt you use a priority flat rate box for $4.70 and another $1.50 or so for a signature delivery notice? Ah I see their in Germany

Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D

I know, I forgot. Thanks for reminding me; I already stated I screwed up.

I don't usually use those anyway, they aren't safe for tubes, too small, thus it wasn't really on my mind.

Registered receipt is not mandatory for the receiving post to return btw, I assume you mean the "pink slip"? They usually come back though, I should have done that at least.

Sorry to hear that happened to you DC! My situation with an A'gon member was similar and could've gone much worse if I didn't catch it in time (thanks to some of you guys on here). Unfortunately it seems that if you don't protect yourself everytime, you are a target.

Sorry to hear about this Doctor. I hear you fishbones, I hear these kind of stories and i makes me only want to buy used gear only from our fellow established Club Polk members that are here day in day out.

I sure wish I didn't just buy my new, well pseudo-Bentley off her last week. Doc...it happens man, don't get wrapped up in it and bent over backwards for this one event. Next time, buy only from me for all things useful. Report it, do what you can and moveon into the new year.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

    Hi Jon,

I guess what I'm not following here is how the seller acted badly. Your test gear and mine probably vary a bit as any two different testers would so that does not seem suspect. If they had good feedback and agreed to refund upon return, that seems pretty fair.

Do you think they received them back, but are not admitting it because you can't prove they received, or do you think they were lost/damaged during shipping?

Did the tubes come to you via a trackable method of shipping?

I should have just stuffed them in a flat-rate, but then if damaged (in those thin boxes), I would also have done insurance.

Maybe they got lost, maybe the seller is in jail, sick, who knows. Victim facilitation for sure, but I was rushing. They didn't ship to me with any tracking that I noticed.

All they have to do is ask me for a tracking number and they win; their lack of response and recent - feedback on eBay leads me to believe they are just ignoring me.

The problem with their test data was they just gave the spec. grid voltage which would be 100% in an "auto-bias" test. In such a test, the resulting gm is what you would look at. The gm was terrible on these, and in a fixed bias test they tested even worse compared to a pair I have here.
