As of now my Jolida CD player definitely sounds better than my TT setup but you had the qualifier "enjoyable" in there so I voted for the vinyl.

    It's just way more fun!
    Sounds good to me...

First Happy New Year. I use a Squeezebox Duet currently feeding my P3 via the analog output. Hope to find a decent DAC one day. I fall into the uber lazy camp. I just want to pick up the remote and pick a song, or twenty. Love it, and the only time I pick up a CD is to rip it to flac files.

Hey Jesse, I've got some of those tubes! Some Bendix 5992 tubes (although I have not used them at 60,000 ft.) You got me beat Jesse!

You know what's been the cause of some audio designers picking up and designing their gear around a weird, odd or often unused tube? Cost and availability.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Well I voted for CD and the outcome of the vote didn’t surprise me. The CD has been the common new source since the early 1980’s and its done well its shaped morphed into the CD-ROM or was that before the CD? Its evolved into the DVD and bluray the same size of disc I mean.

I think it will be around for many more years, entertaining us.

I believe that actual cd sales will be in the vinyl numbers in 10 years. Streaming, wireless and DSD level and beyond iPod based digital media, just as an example, is the future and it should be.

I have to agree. The mainstream thrust has always been twofold: music providers want lower cost ways to deliver music to consumers, and consumers want more convenience.

Sound quality has to be acceptable, but most consumers aren't as picky as folks in an audio related group like CP. I will still probably listen to vinyl for many more decades.

The convergence of computer/telephone/camera/camcorder/radio/television/book empowers consumers to carry/store/use information that is important to them digitally.

That power and convenience is seductive.

Sound quality improvements will certainly follow.

Once the glass is gone, what would you call it?
