Surround Speaker Question

I currently have Polk Vintage Monitor 5 (with peerless tweeters), CS2 Series II Center, Onkyo 508 receiver and cheap KLH surrounds. Used for mostly TV and Movie. Looking at either R15/M10 or Monitor 30/TSi100 to replace the KLH. I listened to the R15 and TSi100 at Best Buy and the TSi100 sounded much better. The speakers will be placed on shelfs either directly against the wall or at most 1" off. Also, the wife doesn't like to see the speakers so the smaller the better.

Questions

Will I really notice the quality difference when used as surrounds?
Does the front / back port difference mean the R15/M10 would be better?

Thanks

Personally, I don't think it will matter much for surrounds, but the rear port speakers, you will (obviously) need to have a little space between them and the wall. The Monitor 30s will probably be the best value among those you mentioned.
