Polk doesn't make grills for SRs since they are high excurtion subs.
I called Polk to see what they recommend and this one came up from Parts Express

Not exactly what i had in mind but this one looks ok so i don't mind getting it.
Would still like to know what other options i got since most people on this forum use or used SR subs

I contemplated an SR sub but went against it (space limitations), but I pondered the thought of using JL Audios grill that's used on their W7. Don't see why it wouldn't work, since it too is a high excursion sub. Looks similar to the one posted above, but the grill is at an angle.

I used that exact Parts Express grill for my SR124 and liked it. Dirt cheap, keeps things out away from the cone and I thought it looked pretty good.

Just ordered it from Parts Express only because that's the grill Polk recomends to use and that's the one Mac is useing lol.

    One thing worries me thou:
According to PE total height of the grill is 1 15/16''.
That height is all the way to the TOP of the bar itself, which means INTERNAL clearance is a bit less (1 15/16'' - height of the bar)

    So roughtly let's say there's 1 3/4-1 13/16'' of internal space.
Mounted SR124 itself is 1'' high from the baffle which leaves less then an inch (about 3/4'' really) clearance for SR to hit the grill.
Given that SR is high excursion sub i'd think it would need a lot more clearance then 3/4-1''. At least 1 1/2 no???

Mac, are you pushing your SR to the max? I sure as hell will once it breaks in AND music i listen to - dubstep/drum'n'bass - is all about bass so i expect this sub to be working at it's full potential. Not enought clearance between sub and this grill worries me.

Now you're over thinking things

Simple experiment, when you install the grill, play a bass heavy track, turn the volume up to the point where you set your gains and pop your boot. See if the cone gets anywhere near the grill......

Well yes, but that only works AFTER you paid for the grill and installed it LOL

Was concidering this Parts Express grill, one that looks alive on Sonic Electronix and JL grill. PE was the only one i could find specs on as far as clearance :( If any of the other 2 had more heigth i'd go with them.

Ok I cheated .........I knew the anwer before hand.

While the sub can do a mechanical excursion of 2.5" thats just a physical max. In real life if you drive them anywhere close to this number, you'll blow them real fast, grill or no grill. Kinda, like the peak power rating on a speaker. Means little.

X-max linear is real world, this is the like RMS power handling. This is where you're driving it 95% of the time. Like Cody said the x-max linear is 0.64".

So 0.64'' is max it'll raise up above it's no-power height when given it's full rms rating??

Doesn't have to have full rms rating, but yes.

Yes true. Just assumed that since linear was one so was this. It did'nt seem right though.

Yes you don't need rms power to get max linear or even beyond. Just threw the rms/peak bit in to, explain x-max vs x-linear.

Im running a pair of MM 10's now but I was pushing the SR124 pretty hard. Was giving it 800 watts RMS from the PA1200.1. Never had any issues with clearance.

I'm using the MM grill on my SR10 but it took a ton a dremel work. Also the only reason it worked at all is because the subwoofer is recessed 3/4" to begin with.
