Just wanted to share my joy. My husband, on his own, got me a new Pioneer BDP-09FD Blu-ray player! He knows I've been drooling for one of these for quite some time. It's truly a beautiful beast! Can't wait for it's arrival! What a guy! Hope everyone has a great holiday and gets their favorite electronics under the tree! DebussyJ

I just acquired a Blu-ray player a couple of weeks ago and let me tell you......you'll LOVE it!

I'm like the fat kid in the candy store every time I look at the picture. I must have bought or rented the average of 4 Blu-ray movies a week since I got it. Merry Christmas to you and yours.

    Very nice Christmas present !

It is a beast of a unit; built like a tank, and weighing in just under that of a Sherman !

As Treitz mentioned, the world of Blu-ray is .... awesome. Not just the picture, but additonal features can be found on most Blu-ray discs.

    Enjoy !

Congrats, a very nice player. Darqueknight wrote up a very nice review with a few tweaks which may help you achieve the best image possible.

Dumb question I'm sure, but why the need for a 2K BD player?

I'm not only into the visual aspect of the player, but I'm really into the audio portion of it, i.e. the DACS and isolated power supply. For an old time audiophile like me it's the holy grail.

You could ask that question of most anything. The answer is people in some cases want the best and they can afford it. Reviews on this player are fantastic.

If you have to ask you can't afford it.

I suspect the average person on this forum has at least one piece of gear in their rack that cost that much. Hell, I think I have that much in just tubes.

    Congrats to the OP

My post was an **** response. My bad. In fact, it was a fair question to ask - one that I've asked many times as well.

Your comment was fine made me laugh. I just was looking for a reason it was that much better than say the Pioneer BDP-43FD? Not that I have to ask permission or anything but a reason to tell my wife I need it. Just like everything else.

Well the new toy has arrived. I have it partially setup. Waiting for my new set of analog interconnects to arrive. This unit is heavy! Certainly noticed that when I lifted it into the audio rack. When I pulled out the old Bdp-51fd it was really light. I can't wait to listen to some audio with this thing! Soon!
