Can one use a "normal" amp on the sub output

I'm starting to build a home theater system. I bought a Denon 3311ci and I have an older Adcom 545 amp left over from building my two channel system. Can I use it to power two passive subs from the LFE sub ports. Will it recognize the LFE signal? Will it hurt anything?

I've done that.........as long as the amp works and your sub is passive......your good to go if you hook it up right. do NOT hook both channels to one sub (or driver voice coil) very bad for the amp.

if you see only one input, one channel of the amp goes to it (or bridge amp if the sub is 8 ohms perhaps)

they do make Dual Voice coil subs so you can hook 2 channels to it.

it's fun to experiment, but my experience led to plate amps made for sub service being the best route, but again, trying can't hurt
