I'm looking to get my mom a couple of really nice gardening tools for Christmas, and wanted to know if you guys knew of specific brands that are considered top tier for gardening tools.

I got her some really nice pruning shears a couple of years ago, but can't for the life of me remember the name of the manufacturer. She was blown away though, as they were apparently top end shears, which actually made her work much easier.

So if there are any serious Polk gardeners, please let me know what brands you prefer for the top end of things in regards to gardening tools.

EDIT: The pruning shears I got were Felco, but I don't see anything else for gardening made by them. I'm looking for other high end tools along those lines.

Thanks guys!

Dang, I was hoping it'd be a thread about dirty hoes!

I don't know if high end is always worth it. Sometimes I prefer low end tools since I know I may potentially abuse them. This year I bought some $1 hand shovels from Job Lots made of a hard plastic. They sure did the job well enough. Also, my kids kept on playing with hand shovels and leaving them outside. Since these were plastic I didn't have to worry about the rain causing rust.

Fiskars are high quality and reasonable $$. Most(if not all) have lifetime warranty.
Yep, my name really is Bob.

Hah, I about put a disclaimer in place that this isn't about dirty girls...

Maximilian: I wasn't really sold on high end for gardening either until I actually tried those Felco's I got her versus the cheap pair they replaced. Talk about a night and day difference in comfort/ ease of use/quality of build. They take a LOT less effort to prune with.

I'll go give their site a browse now muncybob; thanks!

    Any other recommendations are welcomed.
