So this morning I snagged an Adcom GFA-7000 off craigslist, and I love it. I'm ordering some better interconnects but even using left over rca's I found around the house it's a nice improvement. My question is my 1120 doesn't have a 12v trigger and neither does the amp, so am I supposed to leave this thing on all the time? Does it hurt it to leave it on, and how much electricity is it going to use while it's idle? My Monster HTS 2600 has a switched and timed function but I haven't looked into that yet. Thanks for the help guys!

You can turn it off. But it'll need to warm up to sound its best.

Does it hurt anything to just leave it on 24/7? I have it under a stage in my theater room and don't want to have to crawl down there and power it on and off every time I use it. I just don't want to shorten it's life or damage it by leaving it on?

Leaving your amp on will not damage it or significantly limit its life. I would first worry about proper heat dissipation which will limit your gear's life rather than worry about powering it off.

Of course leaving it on will sap some energy, few watts to keep current flowing through it. Nothing too much but if you're energy conscious you can get a power switch at the outlet.

That's all I needed to hear. It's got plenty of breathing room and I just wanted to make sure it didn't hurt to leave it on. Thanks for the input.
