MIT EXp 1 vs anti-cables

Anyone have experience with both these cables? I'm starting a 2 channel rig, and am thinking about cables. So far in the HT rig, I've had the best luck with anti-cables, but there are so many MIT fans on here that I thought I should at least take a look.

Alternatively, if I would need to go further up the MIT line to improve, that would be good information as well.

And cable haters can just keep watchin' me roll.

there are many Anti Cable bashers here but I like how they sound. I do NOT like how much of a PITA it is to deal with them (the coat hanger stiffness is annoying as hell to me)

I still have my pair as there is no reason for me to get rid of them, and they work in a pinch and sound great, but I avoid using them as a primary cable.

MIT's sound fantastic, the Con is that they are pricey as all hell. I've never owned them but they surface at every Polkfest, and cable naysayers be damned......the MIT's make there presence known when they show up. You really have to have some very good gear for the price of some of these cables to be worth it though.

The EXp1 is not an overly pricey cable, at least compared to the upper end of the MIT like, like the Oracle series. I'm just wondering if their lower-end stuff is worth having, or if I'd have to get to a higher series before any benefits started to show when compared to anti-cables.

And like you, I find them to work quite well. Hard to argue with high-purity single cast crystal copper with minimal dielectric insulator. And yes, they're a real PITA to deal with. I twisted a 30 foot pair, and that took well over an hour for each half of the set to do by myself. They also happen to be the smoothest and most detailed cable I've tried thus far, so it was worth it to me.

But with the new 2 channel rig, I want to try some additional things. Unfortunately, I don't really have a lot of funds to play with, so I'm trying to make what I try as targeted as possible before I just haul off and start buying stuff, though I really wish I had to money to try everything I'd like to.

I've never tried MITs, but if you like network boxes, I just got a used pair of Transparent Audio MusicLink Plus. They sound great and I have no complaints with them. Unless you get a good deal, I think used cables are a great way to go no matter what you buy.

I do tend to buy cables used. It's not a matter of liking or disliking a particular design or component, it's how it sounds.

I would just like to add my one experience which is with Audio Metallurgy cables.

I got their AG2 on auction at Audiogon for a very good price and have found them to be of excellent quality and a lot better than the basic cables I had before.

I am eager to try their higher end cables so am saving to that end.

Dealing with them was easy and very rewarding.

The cables are flexible and secure well to the component.

Sorry to throw another cable into the mix but I don't think these are well known as MIT and are probably overlooked. I believe they offer a 30 day money back too (check to be sure).

If you do contact them, speak or email Sandi and tell them Morris (moggi1964) referred you; I don't get anything for that but I would like them to know I am so pleased with their product I am passing on the news

I would think S3 MIT cables are about x2 steps up from EXp1 cables. I would think EXp1 cables are a step up from Anti-Cables. Just my $.02. I demo the Anti-Cables not too bad, but to me had some holes in it. Great Bass, nice high, missed mids... I was confused in the end.

MIT EXP1 speaker cables replaced my Belden 10AWG stranded copper awhile back and I was pretty happy with the switch. I still have one powering my center channel.

I am a Transparent guy myself. Were you talking IC or Speaker? I am beginning to come around to the fact that you should choose a cable technology and then use that technology throughout your system. It's all about energy transmission and some cables seem to fight against others. That has been my direct experience.

The EXP ones are nice and can be had for not a lot of coin. I used the AVT series at which I liked more than the EXP. EXP were still good, but just felt the AVT provided a bit more for me and did better in my system.

I was looking at the AVT too. Right now, I'm just tossing some stuff together and trying to keep it fairly cheap. Then I'll climb on the upgrade train for that one and forget trying to build a music set that that also gets used for HT.

There is a gent right now on Audiogon who is selling multiple 1m pairs of PS Audio Transcendent RCAs which were their top of the line as they have silver conductors. He wants $89 a pair shipped, which meant I had to get a pair to try at that price. I've haven't used the cables myself, but I've heard nothing but good things about them and couldn't pass up that deal.

Anyone jump from the AVT1 to the Shotgun S3 and notice much of an improvement? I have been resisting the urge to upgrade, but am always tempted.
