SL 2500 to replace SL 2000 IN SDA CRS+

Hello,
I have searched high and low in the forums and cannot find what would seem to be a simple answer. Did the 2500 simply replace the 2000?
It clearly was used in the Monitor Series to replace the 2000. Was there cross over circuitry changes in the monitor series to accomplish this?
Confusing!
Anyway, any reason I should not put a pair of 2500s in my SDA CRS+? I have a pair of 4.6s I can part out.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

No, the RD0194-1 is the replacement.

So it sounds like they require different crossovers? I cannot not "enhance or upgrade" my SDA CRTs or my brother's Monitor 5s that came with 2000s? (I have seen some monitor 5s with 2500s from the factory)

It is an easy mod if you can solder, but to "upgrade" to the SL2500 wouldn't be worth it. Do the upgrade and get some RDO198's from Polk. BTW the SL2500 uses the same XO as the SL3000.

Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
    Thanks

Thanks Ben. That is the info I was looking for. It sure is confusing to the uninformed owner. I would not have thought twice to give the 2500s to my brother to upgrade his 5s. especially when you see the newer 5s with the 2500s. http://www.polkaudio.com/homeaudio/products/recent/monitor5/
    Thanks again.

    One item at a time.....please.

Your SDA CRS+ speakers came with SL2000's. The SL2500 is not the replacement, the RD0194-1 is. There is also an upgrade for that speaker that allows you to use the RD0198-1 by adding a 5.8uF cap.

The Monitor 5 Series 2 came with SL2500's. The RD0198-1 is the replacement.

Thanks F1nut. I think I will leave my SDAs alone for now.

So if the back of the speaker says Monitor Series II it came with the 2500, and if it just says Monitor Series it is older and came with the 2000s?

    That is correct, sir.

As for your CRS+'s, the RD0xxx-x tweeters are much better sounding than the originals. You even get a discount from Polk when buying them by mentioning that you are a Club Polk member, free shipping as well.

I might just do that. I have read quite a bit since you recommended.
Quick question: My Monitor 4.6s actually do not say Series II,(just to complicate things), but they do have the 2500s stamped 1990. Do you think this the correct tweeter and they were just transitioning to the new model/name?

It is the correct tweeter. The 4.6 was part of the Monitor series 2 and they all had 2500 tweeters which IMHO is a fine tweeter and much easier on the ears than the SL2000.I had a pair and they are now in a co-workers office. Welcome to the club.
