about 2 months ago they opened a new flea market in a "not so great" side of town. me being a flea market ****, i decided to check it out yesterday, and it was certainly worth it i think. i saw vintage onkyo int. amps, vintage mirantz receivers, vintage kenwood, hell even saw a pair of SDA's sitting in a booth. their prices were all spot-on what u would buy them for on a forum or audiogon or speakerclassics. however, i stumbled into a shop with a buncha "gently used" items, looked up on the shelf and saw something ive been searching for:eek:! WOOOT! polk cs-10 center channel. newegg has had these for $79.99 for a while, and i wasnt holding my breath. the guy was beyond knowledgeable on his audio. this thing was still factory sealed from polk. never opened! we crack the tape on it, and its still wrapped up, not a finger print on it. i asked him "how much u wantin for this?" he says "id like $80 out of it"... OOOOH HERE WE GO, this guy is gooood. i lowball him and say $40, he said "aint no way (lol)" i go "alright, $50 is as high as i will go"... next thing i know im the proud owner of a brand new polk cs-10 for $50!

you local guys, this is the festival flea market on west washington street just outside 465 where target used to be. this guy gave me a 30 day return on it for defects since it was untested. bring it home, hook it up, and after some "fine tuning" this thing sounds great! just figured id share with you guys

Awesome! Have you tried it w/ the Infinity's as fronts to see if it will work or not?

its hooked up right now, i took the polyswitches out of the infinity's to try to get rid of the brightness and it seems to have worked. gonna try some advice from harry to help them out a bit too and see how they sound tonight while watching Legion on 3 channel. ripping the house apart starting tomorrow to do the renovating and going to hide all the speaker wires for the rear channels and put in wall plates. finishing up the kids room today, got it painted, but gotta finish the closet, move the stuff in, and finish with the chalkboard (F*CKIN HUGE! Ill send u a pic lol) then i can start on the downstairs. ripping out the counters, the floors, and redoing some drywall. the next 3 weeks are going to be HELL

I might have to come have a listen to see how they sound now since I also have another pair of Infinity's and would be curious how they might sound, provided they have a polyswitch of course (no idea how I would tell or how to even look for one).

What other advice did he have for you for them?

Chalkboards are cool, I myself want to put one in the kitchen when we get a house. Would make for a super easy to-do/grocery/recipe list

going to try putting a little weight in the bottom of them, and adding a little polyfill behind the driver. all the polyfill in both of the boxes were on ONE side of the box and the bottom, none behind the drivers at all. no louder than i get with a set of bookshelves, polyswitches arent absolutely necessary IMO. im trying to bring the low end to the soundstage and take a little of the ridiculous high end out of it lol. they already sound better, but, i know there is still room for the improvement

Yeah I noticed the Primus have a slightly better low end. Let me know how it turns out for you and I might open up my Primus to see whats what with them. Dont know if you thought about it, but I know folks use Dynamat w/ their SDA's so maybe inquire to Harry if that might help with some of the low end as well.

id like to stay away from dynamat personally, unless im doing the baskets. i need to research the crossovers and see if i can switch them around to give that 8" woofer a little more power. idk, i may throw out the sm one-eight-fives and get a better rear suited rear surround.

yeah, I was thinking about potentially doing the Primus baskets and maybe my Monitor's, but not sure if I really want to.

its a big pain in the *** i feel, but i can notice a difference honestly. my ears arent as sensitive as harry's, but i can definitely tell a difference with the basic mods. im still thinking about the possibility of even doing the blackstones tho. idk, im gonna try a few different things, i just dont think the infinity's or the s6's are up to handling the job as surround unfortunately. and neither one as a front. ugh, maybe i should use the rta's? but they are 4 ohm and everything else is 8ohm. fack someone give me a set of blackstones lmao

LOL...thankfully I dont mind my Primus 162's for my upstairs, just wish they had more bass than they do, but I am just too lazy to open them up (and to scared to void warranties at this point)... I just need a sub (thinking DSW 500) so I can cross them over around 80 and then they should be fine for my small room doing 2 channel.

The only big "mod" I plan to do is have one of the forum guys mod some LSi fronts (still unsure if I want the 7's or 9's) and a LSiC. But since I wont be doing the modding due to my total lack of skill it wont be too much of a problem (besides finding the money in my wallet to pay for the mods).

The 15th is when they draw names for the next set of winners for the Blackstones......

i need to enter again! lol. i dont see me winning (hell ive never even wont $1 on a lotto ticket) but it doesnt hurt to try. if u want ur speakers modded let me know, im not too bad with a soldering iron. just need a hot glue gun, which the fiance has one somewhere lol.

those infinity's look like they were sealed like **** from the factory. i may reseal them and add some sound dampening after the first of the year.

i have my sons 4 wheeler in piece right now, painting their room, ripping apart the kitchen and dining room, and about to rip up the living room. i have enough projects right now, the sm one-eight-fives can wait a while lol

im pulling the baseboard out tonight, and going to trim the drywall to run it around everything. should be really fun. im also hiding my old cable line that runs halfway around the room and putting the speaker wire along with it. shouldnt take more than a few hours to do really. the hard part will be running the wire up the wall and cutting out for the boxes and faceplates. hardest part is taking out the old baseboard

lol...then get offline and do it :wink::biggrin:..

meanwhile I have to call the emergency maintenance line since our front screen door wont shut and it sounds like someones trying to kick in our door everytime the wind picks up lol.....that and I am afraid it might actually pull the pins keeping it from going 180 into the neighbors door...

I tried to fix it quick but the frame is messed up, so let them take care of it, especially in this weather....

lol...dude the guy just left. He physically had to kick the door into the frame, so a bungie isnt gonna work.

The rod part (technical name escapes me) that keeps the door attached is physically bent 25+ degrees. Its gonna take them taking the door off, replacing the rod and also the hinges to get it to work again.

He basically just told us to lock ourselves in and just use the back door until he gets it fixed tomorrow lol....
