Hahaha! There's a flat mirror in that Avon case so I can look at the stylus and cantilever from time to time to check for dirt and alignment. -
Nice plinth.
(I suspect that one could get in trouble with the HR department in most modern companies if one said that to the wrong colleague) -

That is a three piece plinth Mark. The under side is folded 1/4" steel, the platter plinth is 1/2" thick acrylic and the the tonarm board is 1" thick acrylic. Needless to say, not including the 26 lb platter that plinth is in the 55 lb neighborhood. It is the TNT plinth with the TNT platter and suspension. It's amazing how you can tune the suspension springs and it gives the TT a whole different sound especially in the midrage and bass departments.
BTW that is quite an old picture . . . I've made quite a few changes since then.
I gotta tell ya, it is a real PITA to get right (the platter plinth & tonearm board need to be leveled separately:eek: even though they are attached to that massive 1/2" steel sub plinth) but once I did, I can't seem to find a TT that sounds as good at least under the $10k mark. Eventually I hope to get the next platter up that VPI sells but that won't be for quite a while. -

Nice looking piece of hardware. Turntables are, like some women, kind of high maintenance... but worth the effort. -
