Subwoofer Match for RTi4
Hi Folks,
This is my first post. I just bought a set of (discontinued) RTi4 cherry bookshelf speakers from Crutchfield, along with the CSi3 matching center speaker in cherry. I notice the Polk website recommends the PSW111 as the matching subwoofer. However, it seems to only be available in black. Will something similar that's available in cherry (such as PSW10) work OK?
BTW: Are the RTi4 speakers considered at the same level in the Polk lineup (pricewise & qualitywise) as the current RTiA1 model? From doing a comparison, it seems the main difference is the RTiA1 has a taped cabinet whereas the RTi4 is more rectangular. Are there any other major differences?
Thanks!
Gary

Both sound very similar, and yes the psw10 will be a perfect match for your setup.

Gary,
Welcome to Club Polk!
I started with RTi4s, CSi3, and the PSW303 and it was a great value for the dollar. I think you will have ear to ear grinning enjoyment for quite some time.
The RTi4s are, imho, a great gem and value for the money.
The RTi4s are the older brother to the newer RTiA1s. Since you've made your purchase - don't even think twice about it.
When you decide its time to upgrade, then you probably would be stepping up to a different line (like the LSi or its newer replacement).
For now - enjoy the sonic goodness you are about to hear!

Don't know what your budget is, but don't skimp on the sub. If you stay with Polk go with at least the DSW line. There are lots of other brands that also do an excellent job (there's no timbre match for subs). In the budget realm, Lava is making some noise.
Combo rig:
Onkyo NR1007 pre-pro, Carver TFM 45(fronts), Carver TFM 35 (surrounds)
SDA 1C, CS400i, SDA 2B
PB13Ultra RO
BW Silvers
Oppo BDP-83SE -
Other than the cabinet shape they are basically the same speaker. In regards to the sub, any sub would work.Front - RTiA5's
Rear - RTiA3's
Center - CSiA4
Sub - PSW110 -
Thank you, everybody, for the prompt and courteous replies! I've not yet rec'v my speakers (Crutchfield shipped them yesterday), but am already filled with excitement awaiting their arrival! From all I've read, they are great speakers. Thanks also for the subwoofer info; I wasn't aware that subs are not matched like the other speakers.
Have a great holiday!
