Not sure where to post this, so I thought I'd put it here for General Knowledge especially for Texas peeps. I want to sing the praises of a really good Dealer in town Audio Systems. Back in October a buddy and I went around auditioning some speakers at various stores around town and our last stop was Audio Systems.
While there I had auditioned PSB, Dynaudio, Magnepan, and Dali, and carry a couple others, and then today I went down there b/c they allowed me to bring in the Ascend Sierra-1s that I had recently aquired so I could A&B them with the Dynaudio Excite 12s.
These guys are class acts all around. When you go in there they have several listening rooms with comfy Ikea chairs set up in all rooms. They set you up in a room with a CD player and remote and hook up the speakers you want to listen to and then just leave you alone. They don't push any speakers and really want you choose what you like, and they allow you to sit there and audition for as long as you'd like. I was very impressed with how laid back and non elitist they were. When I let him know I preferred the speakers I brought in he wasn't offended at all and was genuinely happy that I was able to find the speakers that were best for me.
I have to say that they earned my business for the future. They carry some electronics that I am considering for future changes and upgrades, and I think I would gladly pay a little more to get their CS.
So if you ever have time passing through Austin, make sure to give these guys look.
