Ordered new tube for my Music Hall dac25.2

After replacing the Music Hall dac25.2's stock tube with an Amperex NOS Bugle Boy (1958) tube I was taken back by the immediate sonic impact that the Bugle Boy brought to the table. After that very positive experience I decided to give other tubes a whirl to compare sonic differences. I just ordered an EAT Cool Valve ECC-88 (6DJ8) tube from Music Direct. It's rather pricey but it is Christmas after all!. They have a nice 30 day trial period so if it doesn't float my boat I can send it back. Just curious if anyone has tried that same tube?

No, but that's the tube that Roy Hall recommended in an email exchange and said it is the one he uses in his 25.2. Let us know what you think after you have some time with it. It's expensive, but not out of range if it's better than the Amperex.

That's some news, this should make things even more interesting. I wonder what made Roy pick this tube over all the others? I'm sure my listening might give me a clue.

Joe, Brock gave me some excellent info on a variety of tubes to try. This EAT ECC tube is just a first of many I believe. I have to check out other tube vendors to see if thay have a 30 day in home trial period. I've dealt with Music Direct before & have returned items without issue.

The great thing about tubes is it's not always about which one is better, they are all just different. I enjoy tubes and tube rolling more than I ever thought I would. Sometimes it's like getting a whole new piece of gear just by rolling tubes.
