So as I was making my way home at lunch time today I came across this.

This is not my house luckily. This thing was fully engulfed. I could feel the heat in my car as I drove by. No police or fire trucks had shown up yet.

Everyone got out, so looks like no one got hurt. Talk about a bad day.

Oh, and supposedly there is a car in that garage (or was a car...)

Wow, that has got to suck. I can't imagine my reaction to something like this.

I guess they put the garden hose away for the winter. Might have helped a little at first.

By the time the Fire Dept gets setup and fighting half the house and all the garage will be toast. What a shame.

    That's awfull.

That's one of my fears since I live in a home built in 52.

On a brighter note, I was driving down my street with a nieghbor in my car and she says, stop. The allens house is on fire I think. We backed up and sure enough, a fire had just started to climb up a corner of the front porch.

We pulled into their yard and then banged on the door. I went looking for a garden hose around their house and found it and it reached back around. The woman called the fire dept. of course and when they arrived, they saw it was out on the outside but axed the wood off to expose the inside and sure enough, there was still smoldering embers behind the siding. Not much but it would've grown back and been worse probably. The woman who lived there had just flicked a cig. butt into the bushs on that corner. Pine straw was the ignited substance from that butt. The small flame then reached the corner boards and it was going to get real bad FAST if not for my neighbor spoting it as we drove by.

I know all to well about smoking and fires starting from them. The dangers were drilled into our brains when growing up by all types of media. Smokie Bear was one of them...
Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them.
