...any version. All versions are Stereophile rated. Best bang for the buck. Get your kids away from their ipod headphones. These speakers are amazing. Great starter for want a be audiophiles. Of course they need a subwoofer for full extension, but for monitors they are hard to beat. Review of the Alpha AV below:...but earlier and later versions are all recommended.

...I was amazed. Non fatiguing mellow sound from mp3's and cd's. As cheap as it gets. Add a Canadian sub from multiple name brands and your kids are good to go go until they can afford to move up.

...listen to some Eva Cassidy on these....especially her "Blues Alley" cd. Need more bass for a larger room....BUT!! Sweet highs and mids. I have used Paridigm Atoms for years with my video editing setup....these are a step up. Luv the highs and mids.

No idea about those speakers, but I do have the PSB Synchrony One tower for my 2 channel system, and the PSB Synchrony One Center for my HT. I absolutely love the sound these things make.

...for the PSB's I use a B&K pro10mc preamp with an old Proton amp section of a receiver. I believe Proton made amps for Nad. The amp is 40 watts. Sweet!!!

I am using a 60w modded Rotel, and B&K Ref. 30 pre. sm. 8" powered sub.
This is a second system, and it really is pretty damn good.

Try some Nordost flatline spkr cable with them, really opens these speakers up, and adds tons of detail.

...i have been into audio since i was 16. That is in the early 60's. Made my own and went thru the EAST coast sound ( Advent (original) , Klh, Ar, and many more. Plus most Polk monitor series and a few SDA series. Also did the West coast trip....JBL Century 100's and counterpoint 4311's. My main speakers now are Magnepan MG I's rebuilt....and love them dearly. But on that sound quality the "little" PSB Alphas are a sweet addition. They are a bargain starter set for future audiophiles. Next step up will be expensive. add a sub....and you have quality sound.

Exacto-o-mundo. Granted, there might be others, but for me, they are the standard Polk has to beat with their new LSi speaker line.
