im in the process of putting in my surround sound, and trying to figure out the speaker situation. i was planning on using my polk s6's on stands as front, a set of infinity sm185's as rear on shelves, and figuring out the center channel right now. will the polks and infinity's blend well? also what center would u guys recommend? doesnt have to be polk specific, but would like to keep it under $200 for the center. what u guys thinkin?

Im thinking a CS1 for the center unless your thinking upgrading your mains in the near future, then I would say a CS2. As for the surrounds I think you will be ok for now with the infinity's due to the fact surrounds are mostly ambient sounds.

It would not blend very well, but the CC-300 is a monster of a center channel. It's incredibly deep so I hope you have a huge shelf to put it on. I have one sitting in the closet, under a pile of other speakers.Main Surround -

I would keep the front 3 timbre matched as close as possible, honestly Im not so sure if the CS1 would be an exact timbre match....no on the paradigm.
After further reading....the CS100 is actually a timbre match for the S6's.Polk Audio Surround Bar 360

its actually tempting to just go with the blackstones at this point. sell all 4 sets of speakers i do have and just buy the blackstones for their compact size and dont have to worry about little kids knockin the stands over lol

I have the new RM series and like it a lot for HT. And from what I have heard the Blackstones are better.
I have never been a fan of the s series stuff myself for HT but matched to the right center I would guess they could sound good. -
FYI: This may not be the best solution as this seemed to be when folks first started thinking about HT. But back in its day (1993), the center channel match for the S6 was the CS100 with M3 for the surrounds.

You need to get any Infinity that starts with "SM" out of the equation in the long run. -
thats the plan eventually. they will end up in my bedroom later on, just right now trying to get the damn surround set up and see how i like it, and will modify from there. REEEAAAAALLLY wanting to hear the new blackstones tho, may be taking a trip to ovation to hear them if they have them in stock

btw, whats wrong with infinity sm's? to be honest, they dont sound bad by any means. better than any other "free" speaker ive ever received. they dont have the bass id like to have, but, i feel as surrounds they should do fine. or should i swap them to the front and use the s6's for a little more bass in the rear to help even it out? the psw125 sub i have is a bit loud and u can tell where the bass is on the softer booms lol
edit: sry to post **** 3 times in a row, muh bad
