They look more like a cabinet.

    Exactly.

Back in the "olden days", HiFi equipment wasn't very common or acceptable in the formal living room (kind of like my house now...sigh), and people didn't have seperate home theater rooms. Speaker makers, expecially those targeting the rich old guys with money to spend on luxuries often made them look like fine furniture (think about some old classic large JBL's, Altecs, McIntosh speakers). Kind of cool and retro to find some of these monsters with beautiful cabinets.

The sound is huge, but maybe not "modern" in terms of detail and imaging.

Think of Marilyn Monroe then vs. Gweneth Paltrow now.

Think of a giant 500 ci V8 Cadillac convertible then vs. a Prius now.

Think of a bottle of Scotch whiskey then vs. a wine cooler now.

Actually, think or Marilyn Monroe in the back seat of a Cadillac with a bottle of Scotch vs. Gweneth Paltrow in the back seat of a Prius with a wine cooler.

How about Gweneth in the back seat of a Prius on top of Leroy drinking a wine cooler while watching Iron Man.

Thanks for the info. I just probably couldn't get past the whole it looks like a coat closet thing it has going on. Knowing people they would try to open it to put their coats in it and then I would be left annoyed and swearing.

The "Leroy" part is kind of weird", but that's O.K. ...as long as she isn't complaining about the potential of you spilling your drink on the seat, Ironman being too loud, or global warming.

How did we get off topic?, maybe my fault.

    Are these things spoken for?

I e-mailed the guy last night and he responded, but I don't want to barge in front of other CP members if they want to buy them.

Tim The wash 2is if they are the same ones I heard are a clean sounding speaker!@!! Great member also.

The seller is not the person selling them. He is selling for someone else and is the "go between " person.

Bryan, my walsh's are the ones he's talking about, the ones you heard. Although I was selling them personally. They have been mine for several years, so not sure if perhaps you were talking about someone else?

Also, what was the name of the artist who's song you tested on them when checking out the ADCOM? It had that killer bass and I think the title was "Tiger"

It was good meeting you though!

    Angelo,

    Thanks again for your hospitality.

I wish I could have stayed longer to listen to your Polk SDA SRS's some more, but we both had a snow storm to drive through. Those are some monsters. Nothing like giant speakers for audio and visual impact.

Finally got a chance to fiddle with the Ohm 2's a bit last night. I can see why people like them. Really different but really good.

    Thanks again.

    Amgelo,

One of my my favorite things is when my cell phone rings and it's Leroy accusing me (in a nice way) of buying something off Milwaukee CL (that he wanted) before I even knew it was listed.

Call one of us up here behind the "cheese curtain" if you want to nab something on Craigslist and can't drive through a snowstorm. Leroy "owns" the east, I cover the west where we don't have his fancy city ways.

well I thought it was strange you wanted to have a picnic in the first place, but hey whatever. Bahahaha! No, but as long as it helped you get the amp home.

Thanks! Just asked the wife about Paula Cole and she said she has it. But now shes staring at me and asking "why do you want it? thats a chick cd!" but i agree that was a hell of a bass line. and she thinks much of my music collection is "chick music."

    Anytime, Tim.

Were you able to get some better power behind the Walsh's? I'm still really curious about that quad "brick" amp.

I hope so!! I kind of passed them up so someone else here could grab them ( i have a set of original's now) 10B's 1.2, 2.3's... I figured instead of getting another set i would let someone else grab them!!

I am glad you liked the bass hit on that song. It is surprising and it comes out of no where!!! I have hurt a few woofers using that song as a test.

Fleetwood Mac live the dance, Opening kick drums on the chain is another great bass one to check and the beginning to pink floyd welcome to the machine. The part before the song starts and sounds like "the machine" WOW it hits hard.

I need to find a re-mastered cd on that. I got a regular cd of it and it stinks terrible. The LP walks on it in every aspect. The cd was full of hiss and sounded distant. Great now i have to go looking THANKS LOL
