Any body think using a diffrent driver with the amp and design of the 505 will be a much better performer?!

    It would be different.
    and Better is subjective and relative.
    You can be the judge.

    usually may be done
    when POLK Customer Service
    no longer provides replacement drivers
    so you have to find a vintage used one
    or be repaired / reconed.

    Actually, I think the box is actually the limitation on the 505, not the speaker. That is a microscopic box for a 12" sub, even with that giant port in the back.
