Van Helsing

This looks to be uber-cool. Great cast too boot. Hugh Jackman fits the role perfectly.

Below is the very first online pic.

Dracula's assistant: Yeeeesssmmmasster... again there is a mortal in the village who wishes to kill you...

Dracula: What the ****? Again? Geez, all I want is a little peace and quiet and death. Did you find out who the hell it is?

D'sA: LLLLuckily mmmmmassster, as usual, the one who hunts you wears all black leather.

Dracula: Damn, what is it with those guys? Anytime some mortal decides he's on some crusade against monsters or aliens or robots, or when a decent law-breaking mortal decides to kill innocents, he wears all black leather. Makes it pretty damn easy to pick him out of a crowd of villagers wearing burlap loincloths. Me, I've always found leather to be hot and sticky, hard to move around in, heavy, and it makes those rubbing sounds.

D'sA: Yesssssssmmmmmasssster.... hot and sticky... heavy.. rubbing sounds.... exxxxxxcusssse memasssster... I.. uh.. must retire to my room for about 4 minutes.

I don't get it. Doesn't seem like leather is that functional.

They were supposed to do this movie right after Bram Stoker's Dracula w/ Anthony Hopkins and F F Coppola. I'm glad they waited. Hugh is gonna be perfect.

This could be completely awesome, or corny as all get out.

Combining all three monsters reeks of a Abbot and Costello spoof, and this would be tough to pull off.

Each monster has its timeframe, history, and storyline; they really never co-existed in cinematic history except in the corniest of monster movies.

Read the synopsis and I'm thinking CGI and artisitic license instead of a period faithful rendition of each monster.

Anyway, I love **** like this and I really hope the movie kicks **** in the vein (sorry) of Blade/Blade II and Brotherhood Of The Wolf.

    Great early find, Ron

I agree 100%. But, it is being directed by Stephen Sommers (The Mummy and The Mummy Returns). If he goes in the direction of a campy movie, it could have a huge suck factor.

What gives me hope is the cast. Hugh could not pull this off with the comedic overtones like Frasier did with Mummy movies.

Hopefully Sommers goes all out serious with this, it has the potential to be awesome if done right.

Agreed, it could be a great, fun movie.

I've always thought An American Wearwolf In London was a great example of a monster movie done right. It is genuinely scary, takes itself seriously. Even the dead friend who is more and more decomposed as the movie goes along doesn't come off as overdone or campy.

I don't know how many people will actually think about "period consistency" as far as when was Dracula's time, Wolfman's etc. But, I think that the way they bring them together - the "why" of why is he having to fight all three at the same time, could make or break it.

I bet the monsters will be more animal/creature like than human, and I think that is a good thing.
