Would the Harmon Kardon AVR 7550 be a good Receiver to run a Polk RTi system ( Rti10,CSiA6,RTi4's and SVS Sub ) for Home Theatre and music or would it be a step up to use an AVR and Amp. Example would be the Harmon Kardon AVR 3600 or one of the Pioneer Ice Receivers along with an amp like Parasound,Rotel or adcom etc...up to 200 watts per channel ? I think the Receiver and Amp combo, but how good would the Harmon Kardon 7550 be on its own ? Room size aprox 14 X 24.
Home Theatre.............

I love the pairing of HK with my RTi speakers. I have a lower-end model with an amp. That 7550 looks pretty robust. I would think it could probably pull it off nicely. The RTis can be powered by a strong AVR, but additional amplification never hurts. I'd be inclined to try it without, though. You could always add something later. Good luck!

Then again, a lesser model HK with an amp would also be nice, all other things ($$) being equal. The more I think about it, the more I'm inclined to recommend this route - considering that's what I did.

I still miss the sound of my HK245 running as a pre/pro. When it started going wonky in the analog section I gave it to my son and purchased an Onk 1007. It's got a huge feature set and Audyssey Multi EQ XT which produces a richer HT soundstage, but it's a tad hotter up top. I suppose it's an upgrade, certainly over the 245, but I miss the sound anyway.

    Combo rig:

Onkyo NR1007 pre-pro, Carver TFM 45(fronts), Carver TFM 35 (surrounds)
    SDA 1C, CS400i, SDA 2B
    PB13Ultra RO
    BW Silvers
    Oppo BDP-83SE
