Cable company hooked up our internet modem using 18 gauge coax.
I want to run an extension to move modem.
I have a bunch of 14 gauge.
I always thought the lower the no. the thicker the wire and the better.
however the cable co. wire is thicker overall and before i crawl up under the house i want to be sure im not **** it up.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Probably just thicker insulation. Shouldn't matter if you use your 14.
Edit: Wait. Up under the house? Are these wires running outside? Then, insulation may play a larger role. -
RG-59 usually has a 22awg center conductor, where RG-6 has an 18awg center conductor. Never heard of 14awg coaxial cable...?Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2

That's what i was thinking.. you don't see coax measured with gauge...usually it's the type RG-**** and based on that you get a size/rating.Main Surround -

You have a bunch of 14ga what? If indeed it is coax I doubt it is 75ohm. Go buy some of the right wire.
BenPlease. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
Thanks
