Dell has had more than it's fair share of trouble with shoddy parts and such, but I wouldn't tell someone NOT to buy them just because my opinion is just that: an opinion.
Do research before-hand, that's my suggestion. Find out the CURRENT track record for any manufacturer you are looking at purchasing from.
Those are Latitudes, not the generic Inspirons everyone is accustomed to.

What we are doing is I'm going to give him the cash and they he said he was going to put a little towards what I gave and get himself a Mac and he really wanted one and then just wait on the Autocad stuff for a bit.
