In my school district (4000+ kids) we ONLY use Dell laptops. I have 120 Latitude laptops ranging from D505's to D520's and they are all in very good condition for how old they are.

Dell has had more than it's fair share of trouble with shoddy parts and such, but I wouldn't tell someone NOT to buy them just because my opinion is just that: an opinion.

Do research before-hand, that's my suggestion. Find out the CURRENT track record for any manufacturer you are looking at purchasing from.

Those are Latitudes, not the generic Inspirons everyone is accustomed to.

If everyone bought Latitudes, they'd have much higher opinion of Dell. Then again, most people are cheap and don't want to spring the extra money.
    Main Surround -
    Epson 8350 Projector/ Elite Screens 120" / Pioneer Elite SC-35 / Sunfire Signature / Focal Chorus 716s / Focal Chorus CC / Polk MC80 / Polk PSW150 sub

    Bedroom - Sharp Aquos 70" 650 / Pioneer SC-1222k / Polk RT-55 / Polk CS-250

    Den - Rotel RSP-1068 / Threshold CAS-2 / Boston VR-M60 / BDP-05FD

That's a great deal, but I am still undecided. I have spent way too much time on the net comparing laptops. It gets very tiring.

If you can make it work, get this one. Can't beat that price.

    Thanks for the help guys.

What we are doing is I'm going to give him the cash and they he said he was going to put a little towards what I gave and get himself a Mac and he really wanted one and then just wait on the Autocad stuff for a bit.

Thanks for the info though as it helps for me knowing what is out there.
