I am trying to find suitable speakers for my sons Sony Bravia flat screen tv. Basically I am looking for bookshelf speakers. I have been going back and forth from the T15, R150, Monitor 30's etc. Looking for a price of no more than $100. He loves his music, games and watching tv. Any suggestions? I need help fast! These would be for Christmas!

Kathy1960 welcome to Club Polk! Do you currently have a stereo receiver or AVR that you are planning to use with these speakers. This would help with the speaker recommendations.

I believe he has his stereo receiver hooked up to it. Not sure what an AVR is. I am bad with electronics!

Yes, thank you. I did see those and the reviews sounded good. Are any one model better than the other?

Sound is a personal preference so the opinions are widely varied
just as there is quality variations in design and construction.

Always good to choose a well known manufacturer that has excellent customer support.
and great warranty should anything ever need servicing.

Perhaps your "sons" have a preference or is this like a surprise.

I think the Polk Monitor 30 for 99.99 would be an excellent choice and value.
    That is a personal opinion.

My son was looking at Polk speakers and I happened to notice that there is a 5 year warranty. Which is by far better than the other manufacturers. I would most definitely appreciate a personal recommendation. And, yes, this is a surprise. He of course was looking at some cheaper ones at BB but they are no longer available and that is how I came across the Monitor 30's. Sound and quality are a must as he likes to play his games (MP3). But again, I really don't want to spend more than $100. I really appreciate your input.

    ^^^^ What he said.

I'm sure your son will be very happy with your choice of 40's. As a suggestion, don't tell him what you paid for them. If he asks, just tell him the truth: "Well, I paid a little more than I was hoping to ...".

...and that's the truth ($120 vs $100).

It would be cool if he did join and tell us what his impressions are, good or bad.

Wow! All of you guys have been very helpful in making my decision. I most definitely won't tell him how much I paid for them. I know he will look online to see how much they cost tho! I had fun talking to you and listening to your advice. It was terrific! I will tell him to join the forum. Maybe next time I will consider getting something more for his system. His birthday is in April. So, if you have any suggestions, I would be more than happy to listen. Again, everyone have a wonderful, safe holiday season and I hope your mom's get you something nice too! Thank you again!
