Upgrading from RM6750

I got my RM6750 set a number of years ago and it has served me well, but I've come the point where I want to upgrade, and I honestly want something more substantial.
The problem I'm having is that my space constrictions have seriously limited my options.
As things stand I only have about 6" - 6.5" of width in which to work.
Most speakers I've seen come it at 7" - 8.5"... so unless I place things above, below, or behind (it's a 65" DLP set that is a couple feet from the wall), none of those options are going to work.

I've given serious consideration to Polk VM Series, Paradigm Millenia Series and Cinema Series... I've heard a lot of good things about BIC Acoustech (I know they are too wide for optimal placement, but I could place bookshelf units either above or below if absolutely needed I guess).

What else should I be looking at?
I'm just trying to get the best sound for my buck, and honestly need help from people with more experience.

P.S. Thank you in advance for the welcome.

Welcome to Club Polk DaedalEVE

+1 on the TLs. As I was reading you, this was exactly what I wanted to suggest. Right now the TL1s are out but if you are willing to wait after the holiday the TL3s should be available and from what I read
the TL3s should be a much b etter improvement.

Thanks everyone. I actually ended up getting 4 RTi4's and a CSi3 for a pretty good price. Had enough left over to get a Pioneer VSX-1120-K as well.
I know they are a little wider than I was looking for, but I found a way to get them to fit. One of the speakers will sort of intrude on my computer desk by a couple inches, but I can make it work.
It'll be cramped, not look great, but you don't hear audio with your eyes, so whatever.
I figure this will be a huge improvement over the RM6750 system I'm using now.

Later on I plan to get a BIC PL-200 sub (or something similar) to replace the one from the RM6750 set.
