Sl6001 & sl5001

Anyone know if the SL6001 trilaminate is a direct "drop in" replacement for the SL5001 tweeter.
With no mods to x-over or cabinet?

Redoing a pr of RT10 x-overs and already have the Sonicaps and Mills, so I do not want to order more.

Thanks for any help.

    Hi Pepster,
Having a look at the RT 10 wiring diagram I see that it uses the same inductor in the tweeter circuit as the RT 12 & RT 16 the tweeters all used in the RT series are basically rated the same 8 ohms 40 watts. models SL 5001 , SL 5501 SL 6001 and SL 6501
I would say they are a direct drop in replacement as has been reported by other members on this site.I would use the SL 6001 as it has better range.

I have replaced the SL 5501 that came in my RT 12's with the SL 6001 Tri Lamanite tweeters.I will not be changing the values of my crossover capacitors I will just be replacing the capacitors to better quality units and adding a bypass capacitor to improve the mid range. You dont need to change the cabinets as tweeters dont require any space to operate not like woofers.

    Thanks for the info Fatpiggy!

I was worried about the diameter of the SL6001 fitting in the cutout of the SL5001.

Thanks again, I think I will buy a pair and check em out.

    Pepster,
All the tweeters I listed are the same physical size,Some come with a bucking magnet on the back some dont. They will be a straight swap.No mods required. The bucking magnet is glued to the back of the speaker to help reduce magnetic interference with CRT TV's monitors, not needed for LCD monitors.
