So if I have a reeiver that has the options for multi zones would i have to play music from the receiver and go into the other room (office or patio)to listen w/out a remote or version of control? I plug my ipod/iphone into the usb port so i assume I would have to start it andwalk away which doesn't seem too beneficial since i like to change songs frequently. Am I missing something?

I don't have an iPod or iPhone, but can't you put it on some sort of random play mode?

Depends on your receiver, if you can use IT to fully control your iPod or not but you can look into remote+extenders which allow you to control any component from a completely different room in the house or even outside depending the way you've got it wired.

yeah I can do a random play mode but find myself wanting certain songs at certain times, so i guess i want that extra control.
