newbie sub question

I am a little confused about the line level inputs in my PSW111 sub. What are the advantages/disadvantages in using both inputs ("Y" cable) on the sub as opposed to using only one input ? I don't know which way to go here.
I'm using a Sony STR-DH 810 reciever, and Polk RM8 speakers and center.

Thanks

If you're just using the LFE input on the sub from the sub pre out on your receiver, that's all you need.
Adding the other does no good. Your receiver should sum bass from L/R automatically and send it to the sub. On movies that will do the bass for LFE plus any speakers you have set to small.
