Greetings all,

I just made my purchase for my first new surround system. I purchased as follows 2 Monitor 70's, 2 Monitor 40's, CS-20, and psw125. The question I have is I made a mistake on the center channel and ordered the CS20 instead of a CS-1. Will the CS20 work as well ( timbre match) with the Monitor series or should I return the CS20 and purchase a CS1? I want to make sure I'm getting the best from my purchase. The specs. look almost the same for both center channel speakers. It should all be arriving in a few days. Any thoughts?? Thank you.

You made the right choice, it'll sound better than the CS1 and very similar to the CS2 which is the exact model that matches the monitor line. The CS2/20 uses the 6 1/2 drivers and the CS1/10 uses the 5 1/4, so I definitely wouldn't go from the 20 to the 1. Enjoy your purchase and welcome to the forum.

Thanks B Run, what I meant to say is I purchased the CS20 instead of the CS2, which matches the Monitor Series. Would you say I'm still OK? I guess I'm getting a bit confused on my numbers. I'm happy to be part of the forum and the polk family. Thanks again.

Other than looks, the CS2 & CS20 should sound the same and you should be good to go.

I was in the same boat, but you really want to be comparing the CS2 to the CS20.

For everyone else out there, I have the same setup as HTSPKR except for the center. The CS20 is newer and seems better, but was afraid something wouldn't sound right because it uses a different material for the tweeter.

    CS2 - cloth dome tweeter
    CS20 - silk dome tweeter

The M70's and M40's use a cloth dome tweeter so I didn't want to mix. Will there be a problem if you mix the old with the new? Of course it will work, but will the sound difference be noticeable and make a slight incompatibility?
    System:

    Receiver: Denon AVR-2807
    Front: Monitor 70 Series II
    Center: CS2 Series II
    Rear: Monitor 40 Series II
Subs: JBL Venue SUB10 and a Polk PSW505 (on its way to my house)
Other: 55 in. LCD TV, PS3, Wii, HTPC, Harmony One remote, blah, blah, blah...
